Review summary

There is nothing so beautiful as the scenery in Alaska. This is my seventh time cruising to Alaska, each one different, but I loved everyone of them. There is so much to see in Alaska and each excursion I ever took had incredible scenery. I highly recommend any cruise you want to take to Alaska. I've taken cruises in May, June and August, and the weather was great for most all of them.

Embarkation

It was quick and easy to get on the ship

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Sabatini's had delicious food and we all loved it. We didn't eat at the steak house, but I am sure the food was just as good there too. The dining room food was good, but not as great as the specialty restaurants. The International Cafe had excellent coffee drinks and food items to choose from for a quick bite. The Suite Class breakfast in Sabatini's Restaurant was to die for!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The Wine Bar was excellent. We had a group of about six almost every night and the waiters got to know us and were especially fun to be around. Excellent service!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The musicians that played in the central area of the ship were all very good. From guitar to violins, they created a warm and inviting atmosphere to sit and have drinks or just watch the ocean go by.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone that I met made an extra effort to provide the best service to everyone in the group I was traveling with. John, from the Philippines, who brought coffee to our Suite in the morning was very personable and attentive. I was very impressed with the service that all the employees provided. I especially enjoyed the Captain's announcements and his cute "Bye Bye" that he said at the end of each one.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Everything was well maintained. I have a dust allergy and never sneezed even once on the cruise. Our room was immaculate every day, as were all the common areas.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Suite C423 was very nice. The closet was a little tight, but I loved the fact that the toilet and shower were separated with a door. The balcony furniture was especially nice with a table and four chairs plus two lounge chairs with a blanket on each.

Ship tip

This may be an older ship, but it is well maintained. It may not be as big as some of the newer ships, but in my mind that's a plus! I loved how easy it was to get around all the areas of the ship.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

5 out of 5
We left from Seattle, so we didn't do an excursion before the cruise.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
I love Ketchikan! Such a quaint and picturesque town.

Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska

4 out of 5
Cruising the Tracy Arm Fjord was nice, but it wasn't like seeing a glacier close up. There was an option to take an early morning excursion that we should have done because we heard that it was awesome, with a close up view of the glaciers. Definitely next time!

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Juneau is a bigger city, but getting off the ship and walking around was very easy. So many shops within close range. We went up the Tram and enjoyed an excellent tour at the top of the mountain. Our tour guide, Lars, was born in Alaska, and was a wealth of information about his hometown.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
I love Skagway! It's a beautiful little town with lots of cute shops. I ate lunch in one of the Cafe's downtown and enjoyed it. I took an Ocean Raft trip that was especially fun!

Victoria, British Columbia

5 out of 5
Victoria is bigger than I thought, with more than 300,000 population. I took a tour to the Butchart Gardens, but there wasn't much you could see at night. They did have a fireworks show that was beautiful.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
As a Suite guest, we sat in a special waiting area where they provided coffee and pastries for us. It was a very comfortable and fairly short wait. You have to be out of your cabins by 7:45 am and we were off the ship by 8:30 am.

Were you the balcony that had somebody losing their mind every time the whales appeared after leaving Ketchikan?
