Review summary
My sister and I cruised on the Star Princess the first week of June 2019. The sights from our balcony were amazing and I advise anybody going on an Alaskan cruise to definitely get a balcony stateroom. We were impressed with the staff and the cleanliness of the ship. We were not impressed with the food which was bland and mediocre. The food quality might be a deal breaker for me as far as booking another cruise with Princess.
Embarkation

Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
The food in the buffet, main dining rooms, and even the specialty restaurants was bland. The steak in the Crown Grill was no better than a Golden Corral steak. I was very disappointed with my food experience.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We enjoyed Bingo and the informational presentations in the Star Theatre ( First women to win the Iditarod, and Dirk Yonkerman -Naturalist).
The Casino is just okay. Half smoking and half smoke-free. Nobody ever asked me if I wanted a drink or needed anything. On previous cruises I was able to earn free drinks in the casino with play points, but not on this cruise.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The magician was delightful. The young man who ran the Bingo was so charismatic and delightful. We had a wonderful time playing Bingo due to his energy and personality.
Highly disappointed that we were not able to see the comedian because he was moved to the Vista Lounge and there was not enough seating. I was shocked at the poor planning for this.
Children's Programs
We did not bring children with us..

Cabin / Stateroom

The beds are super comfortable and we were happy with the closet space and shelves.
Our cabin was refreshed twice a day and we always had fresh towels and ice.
Wonderful quaint little town. We took the tram up Robert's Mountain and hiked. We saw several bears during our hike! The young ladies who ran the tram were sweet but also professional.
Beautiful port: clean and exciting! This is a must-see for travelers to Alaska
We went on a walking tour of Victoria. Our guide, Lauren, was adorable and packed with energy and information! She took us to Beacon Hill Park which was beautiful and so natural. We saw deer, peacocks, blue heron, bunnies, and a raccoon. Then to town to see the Government building.
