Great cruise with amazing itinerary. by gshulman89

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Legend

While not perfect it was a fabulous cruise. Would have preferred to actually dock in Dublin rather than Dun Laoghaire.

Fantastic service on board the ship. Food is excellent, although repetitive on long cruises. by wekwek

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Star Legend

If you are considering touring this part of the world, I would suggest taking a cruise ship through the Norwegian fjords. But Iceland is really much better seen with an inland tour. The towns the ship docks at are very small and you have to take long bus rides to see the sights. Save the long busrides and the expense and do Iceland by land instead of sea.

A Beautiful and Romantic Visit to Impressionist France by ktravis85633836

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Legend

I was celebrating my birthday and of course, the wait staff knew and surprised me with Happy Birthday and a cake at dinner. To top it off, when we went back to our cabin there were balloons and decorations and rose petals and Happy Birthday signs. Could not have asked for more!

Amazing Leewards Island Cruise by tinahooper

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Legend / Destination: Caribbean

This is our 2nd Windstar Cruise and it was beyond amazing. The captain on the Star Legend was visible and beyond amazing.. I would sail his ship again due to him. The food was perfect, staff excellent... Islands and excursions rated a 10+. Windstar treats you well with impeccable service and you get to know every one with a small ship of 200+ guests. Planning for many more Windstar cruises... Thanks

Excellent trip on interesting route by Florianabivona

Would pick again for some routes but not all. Marina deck a big plus but would not be deployed in, say, Iceland.

Incredible Vistas by HRG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Legend / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

I would book with Windstar again in a minute. Loved the Star Legend ship as the size of the rooms were so relaxing and tons of space to hold everything we brought with with and accommodate the new stuff we bought. Wonderful cabin attendant Desi who immediately was able to soften the bed for me a bit. I found the bed to be quite hard and also found softer pillows for us. Our waiter each night was Deva who we had met when we were on a prior Windstar cruise and remembered us. Met a new waitress Trisna who had a smile for everyone on board and learned my name the first day and what I liked to drink. Kristi who now works in the onboard tours, was our photographer on the Windsurf and immediately remembered us from our previous trip. Met the new photographer Rhea who was also extremely friendly and went on a tour at every port and got some amazing pictures. I love that they have reasonable package deals and you don't feel pressed into buying their pictures. Our captain was great and made sure to point out things as we were traveling. We had a pod of blue whales who swam with us for a bit outside of Iceland. We did a 360 spin in the Geiranger Fjord so we could all see the waterfalls. We had a piper playing his bagpipes as we left the dock in Kirkwall Scotland and then the captain got up closer to the Orkney Cliffs just outside of Kirkwall. We lucked out with amazing weather, sunny blue skies. Definitely a trip to remember!

Great crew, great time! by Tracyeetg

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Star Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We had a blast on the Star Legend! The ship is showing a little wear & tear but overall immaculately kept. I do think they need to work on the tenders, as the boats are pretty run down. The best part was the crew. Very attentive, engaging and so friendly. Lots of fun with them! They genuinely seemed to love their jobs. The food was smaller in portion but delicious. I wouldn't say 5 star but if was flavorful, hot & beautifully plated. (and no worries if the portions are small, as you can order more than one thing, i.e.; 2 entrees) This was our first small ship and I definitely prefer it over the larger ships. Jost Van Dyke and St. Maarten were our favorite islands.

Amateur Hour from start to finish by dsyoung422

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Our cruise was scheduled to leave San Juan on December 9.  In the evening of December 8 we got a phone call indicating that the cruise line had not filed the proper paperwork to dock in San Juan so they were going to charter flights for everyone to meet the cruise ship in St. Maarten.  We were supposed to board in San Juan at 1pm and ended up boarding at 10pm on a different island.  The communication with the charter company was botched and that flight left late - after wasting a day waiting to fly.  Windstar didn't have a rep to meet the bus at the closed port in St. Marteen so we ended up sitting on bus waiting.  Embarkation was delayed while waiting for equipment to be shipped down to St. Marteen - ship finally left port at 3am.  They changed itinerary so that Sunday excursions were now Saturday, but did little to inform people (didn't change the tickets, make announcements, call people, etc)  Went to Antigua on Sunday instead of Saturday and the island was basically closed.  One day my wife and I were using the watersports deck and were almost run over by Zodiac operated by a ship employee that drove over our water mat - we had to jump in water to escape being crushed.  Room service was a joke - after 3 wrong meals we gave up on it. They had exactly two gaming tables in Casino and only one dealer on board - so he only opened one table at a time and closed frequently for breaks since there was no one to back him up.  Even the directory in the room had incorrect phone numbers so we had to call the operator every time we wanted to speak to someone.  When we docked in San Juan to disembark, they didn't have enough buses to take us to airport (we all had prepaid passes so they knew exactly how many people were going) so we stood outside an hour.  Then bus that did show up couldn't accommodate all the baggage so they filled bus aisles - good thing we didn't get in accident because aisle and door were completely blocked.  From start to finish there was a lack of attention to detail.

Modern communication amenities would have made for a better experience.... by sailphilip

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Star Legend / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

As I previously reported directly to Windstar, the almost total lack of modern, 21st century internet WIFI aboard was very disappointing. I needed to be in constant contact with my business and family (mother is very ill) and I was only able to reliably do so by spending an inordinate amount of time ashore searching out public WIFI. Had to cancel 2 shore excursions because of this issue.

The exorbitant fees charged for a 1980's connection were not appreciated.

Culinary & Wine delights (Dublin,France,Spain and Portugal) was a dream vacation in every way by Cruiser46848172

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Legend / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The Star Legend is getting on in age, but Windstar has renovated the ship to the degree where it's very nice. Service on the ship was excellent and not really lacking in any way. We experienced a James Beard co-sponsored cruise, where every day and every night was a culinary and wine experience.Wine Lovers take note! Portugal isn't everything it's cracked up to be. It's FAR MORE!

Netherlands Antilles and Windward Islands aboard Star Legend by bsp3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Legend / Destination: Caribbean

Boarding and departure--smooth.  Some of the docking is a bit far from the local action.  Food and service were very good.  WiFi/Internet was excellent, with continuous, rapid reception.  The beverage package a rip-off with lots of exclusions and watered down drinks.  Some of the excursion choices exciting.  Warning: This is an old ship (Seabourn) and although refurbished, leaves a lot to be desired.

Some space unused...not much of a pool--water sports platform available 2 of 7 days.  Chairs on Veranda had lots of food on cushions and in crevices.

Excellent Ship the Star Legend by SRW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Legend / Destination: Caribbean

Our cruise was very enjoyable, everything we expected.  Only issue was our 1st night at sea, a generator went out, and the air conditioning was impacted.... we slept on deck which was fun, and the crew was very helpful.  The Cruise Line compensated each guest with a $100 ship board credit.  Other than this one issue the cruise was all we expected.  There is opportunity to improve the entertainment on board, as there is a theater that was not used nightly, seems like a waste of space.  The ABC Island were exactly as we expected.  The food and service on board was excellent, and the crew was the best I have ever experienced.Happy

Great Caribbean Cruise by sallyrock

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Legend / Destination: Caribbean

The cruise on Windstar Star Legend in January, 2016, was truly a vacation, not a trip. The cabins are spacious, the food and service were excellent. Our itinerary hit some of my favorite islands and a new one, Montserrat. We visited the islands, but mainly for beach time with maybe a nice lunch. Montserrat was pretty quiet although we didn't leave the beach near where the ship was anchored. We could see the devastation of the volcano as the ship went past on the way to the next island. All the food was above standard, from the breakfasts to the mid ship barbecue. Our crew were very friendly and personable. We met some who had been on another cruise with us and they recognized us right away. I highly recommend this cruise if you want a wonderful, relaxing week in the sun.

Staff by charmedavidson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Legend / Destination: Caribbean

We have done quite a number of cruises and never have we experienced such a genuinely friendly staff: Sometimes folks who work with tourists have been trained to act as though they like tourists. This was clearly not the case with the room stewards and the dining room stewards. They were also very helpful!
