Review summary

Our cruise was scheduled to leave San Juan on December 9.  In the evening of December 8 we got a phone call indicating that the cruise line had not filed the proper paperwork to dock in San Juan so they were going to charter flights for everyone to meet the cruise ship in St. Maarten.  We were supposed to board in San Juan at 1pm and ended up boarding at 10pm on a different island.  The communication with the charter company was botched and that flight left late - after wasting a day waiting to fly.  Windstar didn't have a rep to meet the bus at the closed port in St. Marteen so we ended up sitting on bus waiting.  Embarkation was delayed while waiting for equipment to be shipped down to St. Marteen - ship finally left port at 3am.  They changed itinerary so that Sunday excursions were now Saturday, but did little to inform people (didn't change the tickets, make announcements, call people, etc)  Went to Antigua on Sunday instead of Saturday and the island was basically closed.  One day my wife and I were using the watersports deck and were almost run over by Zodiac operated by a ship employee that drove over our water mat - we had to jump in water to escape being crushed.  Room service was a joke - after 3 wrong meals we gave up on it. They had exactly two gaming tables in Casino and only one dealer on board - so he only opened one table at a time and closed frequently for breaks since there was no one to back him up.  Even the directory in the room had incorrect phone numbers so we had to call the operator every time we wanted to speak to someone.  When we docked in San Juan to disembark, they didn't have enough buses to take us to airport (we all had prepaid passes so they knew exactly how many people were going) so we stood outside an hour.  Then bus that did show up couldn't accommodate all the baggage so they filled bus aisles - good thing we didn't get in accident because aisle and door were completely blocked.  From start to finish there was a lack of attention to detail.

Size was fine. two broken lights. carpet was ill-fitting. mold in bathroom and copper accents were badly tarnished.

Ship tip

They told us not to bother buying Wifi because it was so bad. Don't order room service - they won't get it right. Be careful using the water sports deck because they don't have proper safety procedures in place.

nice shopping and restaurants. prices in general are high and 11% sales tax adds to prices.
