Sky Princess overview

Sky Princess
Sky Princess debuted in October 2019 and is the newest ship from Princess Cruises.

Fresh off her October 2019 debut, Princess’ newest ship, Sky Princess, elevates the line’s reputation for first-rate service and luxury at sea. From cruise line favorites such as the Lotus Spa to brand new Sky Suites which feature 270-degree views and the largest balconies in the fleet, passengers will experience a voyage filled with relaxation and indulgence. One of the first Princess vessels to offer the cutting-edge OceanMedallion program, Sky assigns each cruiser a wearable medallion that will enhance their onboard experience. This helps in facilitating embarkation, cabin access, and providing a means of locating travel companions on the ship.

With Broadway-style shows, Movies Under the Stars, and Festivals of the World, Sky Princess aims to keep passengers entertained on even its longest cruise. For travelers who prefer more active entertainment, Sky Princess includes a vibrant Vegas-style casino, a sports court, and several swimming pools — including two deep-tank pools. Talented cruisers can show off their singing abilities in The Voice of the Ocean singing competition. Plus, the Discovery at Sea programs offer fun for the whole family with stargazing on the top deck and activities inspired by Discovery’s hit shows.

Sky Princess itineraries and departure ports

Sailing from Fort Lauderdale, Sky Princess offers a variety of Caribbean itineraries. Depending on the cruise, ports of call may include Cozumel, St. Thomas, Grand Cayman, and the line’s private Bahamian island, Princess Cays,. The ship also voyages from New York to Canada and from Rome or Barcelona to destinations throughout the Mediterranean. European cruises leave from various ports, with stops including Copenhagen, Stockholm, Berlin, St. Petersburg, Oslo, and Helsinki. The ship also sails several repositioning transatlantic cruises.

Before you book

This ship is best for: Sky Princess is ideal for first-time cruisers and families looking for a well-rounded cruise with a focus on service and luxury. From its variety of entertainment to its vibrant children’s programs, Sky is designed for multigenerational appeal.

You should know: Although there’s no shortage of activities, the ship lacks amusement park-style amenities of some mega-ships. Families and younger cruisers seeking an adrenaline-filled voyage with rock-climbing walls and surfing simulators may want to try a cruise line such as Royal Caribbean.

Things to do on Sky Princess

On Sky Princess, the emphasis is on world-class entertainment. There are shows that appeal to all tastes. Experience romantic Movies Under the Stars at the ship’s poolside amphitheater. Enjoy dazzling Broadway-style stage productions in the state-of-the-art Princess Theater and comedy at Princess Live!. Wannabe performers can even sing their way into a spot on the ship’s stage with The Voice of the Ocean competition.

Cruisers seeking traditional onboard favorites can roll the dice at the Vegas-style casino or indulge in an afternoon of pampering at the Lotus Spa and Fitness Center. Passengers looking to sit back and relax, there is the fleet’s first Take Five bar. It's an upscale venue where cruisers can enjoy a cocktail while listening to live jazz.

Ship: Sky Princess

Overall, Princess was the best choice for the cruise. The ship visited more ports than any other major cruise company. To see the most of Norway, Princess is the best option.

Good first experience with Princess by LovesCruises

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sky Princess

Overall, it was a nice cruise, and we enjoyed the ship and the service, and the itinerary was interesting and well paced. We noticed that many of the Princess staff are long time employees of Princess, and they seem engaged with the guests and the brand. Since this was our first experience with the Princess brand, I felt a consistent lack of communication in almost every area from cabin service (had to ask for breakfast room service order cards), embarkaton (confusion about where and when to report to muster stations), and disembarkation process. While the medallion is loved by many guests for many reasons (ease of ordering, unlocks your cabin as you approach), it was a little creepy knowing that all of my movements and orders were trackable on the ship by any staff at any time. Being welcomed by name upon arrival to the dining room is nice, but creepy when I have never introduced myself.

The Princess lines are very traditional but they do have activities for a younger crowd. Be ready to dress appropriately on the formal nights.

Ask for a room close to areas you think you’d frequent. We felt like our location on ship was good to disembark for excursions or restaurants and was a little far from pools
