Overall it was a good cruise experience. Princess was very organized and the staff was excellent. The ship was in great shape. The major downside for us was that we were not the “targeted” age group (which we estimate at 65 and over). It was a relaxing vibe, but we would have liked to meet more people our age (middle age- early 50s) and have activities that represented this age group a little more. Also, it was kind of a bummer that they didn’t offer more “included” restaurants other than Alfredo’s as we liked that restaurant a lot and would have enjoyed going to a similar restaurant. (Unfortunately everything else was a separate up charge).
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Everything went smoothly. There was some confusion in the waiting area as many people were waiting to embark.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Main dining rooms were very good from food quality to service . Buffet food was decent but drink service and the bussing of tables was slow at best. We enjoyed Alfredo’s restaurant which was included in the price
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We enjoyed lawn bowling and the trivia /quiz shows. Three were way too many people using the pools for us to feel comfortable going in. Most activities were geared towards the 65 and over crowd (not middle age people)
Entertainment
3 out of 5
We enjoyed most of the shows (for a cruise ship they were decent) but we did not enjoy the comedian they had.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Our room steward was excellent and almost all staff were very friendly and accommodating. The only downside was they tried to sell you upgrades for internet and drink packages for the first two days.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Ship was well maintained and very clean. The only thing is the layout of the international cafe was strange because it created a bottleneck of clients in a very busy area.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The pad they use to convert the bed to a queen was uncomfortable for sleeping. The closet had decent space and a good amount of hangars in the closet. There were only a few small drawers for clothes. There was a mini fridge.
Ship tip
Ask for a room close to areas you think you’d frequent. We felt like our location on ship was good to disembark for excursions or restaurants and was a little far from pools
We were glad we had an excursion booked as it seemed a little sketchy to walk on your own, not to mention that the distance from the port was far from anything you’d want to see. I did like that they had a beach we could swim at with chairs in the shade if you just wanted to relax.
I disliked that this was a tender port. Even though we were on one of the first tenders ashore, it was a hassle. It was touristy when we got off the tender, and again I was glad we had a booked excursion. There isnt really too much to see in Belize that is close by, so keep this in mind.
This was the easiest part of our experience by far. It was a breeze to disembark and find a taxi to the airport- all in all it took less than half hou.
