Review summary

We've always heard that Regent is the best of the best but did not find it to be so. We were disappointed with the quality and selection of the food in the restaurants and they closed too early. We had three excursions canceled at the last minute, making us feel that there was not good value. We also had issues with the airline arrangements.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Buffets were ok, but they close right at 2:00 and many excursions did not get back until at least 1:30. The pool grill had the same menu every day. We had one good dinner at Prime 7 and one horrible one at Prime 7 where we walked out after almost two hours when our entrees were delivered cold and uncooked.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

The nightly shows were at 9:30, a time that was difficult to get to, especially when there was nothing to do after dinner to occupy us.

Service and Staff

Everyone was friendly and helpful. Our butler was outstanding. However, it seemed that they were understaffed in the restaurants.

Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin was smaller than expected and smaller than the one next door. It was kept clean by our wonderful stewards. The pillows were not comfortable.

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

We arrived the night before the cruise so only went out for dinner. The next day we took a taxi to see some of the sights.

Ibiza, Balearic Islands

Our excursion was canceled only a couple of days before the cruise and the only alternative available was a beach excursion when we don't like beaches and it rained.

Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands

We just took the shuttle into town and walked around.

Marseille (Provence), France

We took an excursion to Cassis. Nice views from the bus. Only good if you like to shop.

Monte Carlo, Monaco

We took an excursion to Eze, a perfume factory and Monte Carlo. We hated the perfume factory and got out as soon as possible. Eze was nice but disappointing because 2/3 of the stores were closed on that Sunday. Monte Carlo was lovely.

TUSCANY (LIVORNO), ITALY

Once again our excursion was canceled at the last minute and the only option available was Florence on our own. The bus drove us to Florence and let us do our own thing for six hours. Our guide was great. We went to Pisa the second day and it was fabulous, especially our guides.

Ajaccio, Corsica

We did not go to this port due to bad weather. We did not get a refund of the port fees and excursion costs.

Messina, Sicily

We took an excursion to a Greek theater. The guide walked to fast and did not speak loudly enough so at least 2/3 of the guests stopped following her. She also did not stop for a bathroom break. This was the one port where we wished we'd had more shopping time.

Sorrento, Italy

We took an excursion to Pompeii. A fascinating place but difficult walking for those who have issues.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy Did not visit port

We disembarked there.

Ever since NCL took over their quality and excellence they were known for has declined to a point I won’t even consider them. Been sailing with them since 1999. What a shame. Sorry this happened to you.
