Review summary

Definitely want to cruise Mediterranean again -- probably not in August -- it was VERY hot. Have booked a Holiday cruise for 2020 aboard the new RSS Splendor.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Having been on several previous Regent cruises, I knew what to expect. It was "smooth sailing".

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
With the exception of the "plant based" chickpea pancakes, the food was outstanding in all venues. I enjoyed seafood every single day! And it was always beautifully presented.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Afternoon Trivia is always a lot of fun, especially since two teams wanted me on their team. Late-night jigsaw puzzling in the library was fun with some of the younger cruisers.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Awesome. The Production Cast was outstanding. Thoroughly enjoyed mingling with them throughout the cruise. Very talented, personable young people. The enrichment speaker left a lot to be desired, which was duly noted. Overall, he didn't detract from the total enjoyment.

Children's Programs

1. I was a solo traveler and 2. there were no children aboard

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service aboard Regent Seven Seas Cruises is impeccable. Marla, the Social Director, and Margaret, the Cruise Director, were very attentive to the solo travelers -- we never felt left out.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
It was very easy to get acclimated to and navigate the Voyager. The library area was very well maintained due to the diligence of one of the Production Cast members. They were also in evidence in the computer center, which was very helpful.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
More than enough room for a solo traveler. I would have liked to have spent more time relaxing in my cabin, but I was having so much fun participating in the onboard activities, I didn't want to miss anything.

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

5 out of 5
I booked my own tour of La Sagrada Familia. It was wonderful. On a previous visit to Basrcelona, we did the Hop On, Hop Off bus tour -- I highly recommend it.

Marseille (Provence), France

2 out of 5
I did the Hop On, Hop Off excursion. It was a comedy of errors (which wasn't funny at the time). Fortunately, several of us stuck together and after the end of the tour were able to get transportation back to the ship. Many of us voiced our dissatisfaction and frustration with Cruise Destinations and hopefully, steps will be taken to improve on this Hop On, Hop Off tour provider.

Monte Carlo, Monaco

4 out of 5
Highlights of Monaco. Enjoyed the changing of the guard. And the lobby of the casino provided a "taste" of the high life.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy Did not visit port

The trip into Firenze was several hours and I was going to do another long bus trip the next day -- I was pacing myself.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

2 out of 5
The Panoramic Rome was disappointing because we didn't get to see the Vatican or the Coliseum -- even on a "drive-by" panoramic tour. The one-hour stop wasn't enough to walk to the Spanish Steppes (which is what we were scheduled to do) and get lunch. Many, many, many of our group were late getting back to the rendezvous point which left the rest of us in the 95 degree heat.

Valletta, Malta

3 out of 5
My singular impression was that it was monochromatic.

Santorini, Greece

5 out of 5
As is true of many tourist locales -- beware the pickpockets! Loved Santorini! Just walking around the narrow streets/alleys and browsing the shops. We were there in the a.m., but by noon, it was really starting to get crowded. Could hardly move. My friend got a couple of beautiful purses. LOL -- I got a magnet.

Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey

5 out of 5
A fellow solo traveler treated 3 of us to a private tour to the ruins and environs. A fun outing with new-found friends. BEWARE -- every tour ends with a visit to a carpet store. Take a pass on that one.

Piraeus (Athens), Greece Did not visit port

From ship to airport. No tours.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
Too much hang time at the airport before gate opened.

Hahahaha the forced carpet store visit. I remember that too!! I love Regent. We’ve been on many over the years and they are the line to beat. We are going with a family group in April on NCL and I’ve booked the Haven. I hope this experience will be similar. I loved your itinerary all my favorite places. Thanks
