Cabin number: 747

Review summary

This is the first time we have sailed with Regent seven seas but we will definitely sail with them again. The service was outstanding and all crew members seemed genuinely happy to provide great service to their guests. The all inclusivity justified the overall cost of the voyage.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Boarded at a set time chosen by ourselves. Smooth & quick process. On ship within a few minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food & beverages were of a high standard in all venues. A list of the complimentary wines would have been useful. However you can request an alternative wine choice other than those recommended on the day. Items on menus of the speciality restaurants were often available at The Compass Rose menu.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The pool & 3 whirlpools were clean and well maintained. There was numerous activities on deck 12 ie a nine hole pitch & putt. Fitness centre was small but adequate.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The spontaneous Duo were entertaining as were the pianist and ships on board orchestra. The shows were over choreographed making them dull and predictable.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The crew mainly Asian were all keen and eager to provide a first class service.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Mariner is one of Regents older ships however she was constantly being maintained throughout the voyage. The common area were kept spotless. The lounges were comfortable.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was a standard balcony cabin. Unlike most cabins there was no walk-in shower. The shower was over the bath and there was only one sink. However it was all adequate.

Ship tip

I booked the tours online and found many were not available. However onboard do go to Destination services as many tours became re available.

Ports of call

Amsterdam, Netherlands

5 out of 5
Easy access to the port from the airport by train to central station then one stop on the tram to passenger terminal. Tickets can be used on both train and tram within one hour.

Zeebrugge (Bruges), Belgium

5 out of 5
The ship is docked in Zeebrugge and a port shuttle provided to local seaside town of Blankenberg. The ship provided a tour of Bruges on your own or guided. It’s a picturesque town with its charming canals definitely worth a visit.

St. Peter Port, Guernsey, Channel Islands

4 out of 5
Tendering into St Peter Port. Nice to wander around through the front and shopping area. Walked to fortress for great views of the ship.

Cruise Bay Of Biscay

4 out of 5
Wasn’t as rough as predicted.

Bordeaux, France

5 out of 5
The ship was docked right in the centre of Bordeaux although we took a tram to go further inside the city and walk back. Bordeaux has amazing architecture and cobbled streets. It’s clean and easy to get around. As Bordeaux was an overnight port we took a tour to the quaint village of St Emilion on day two with a wine and tasting tour to Chateau Fleur De Lisse.

Saint-Jean-De-Luz, France Did not visit port

The port authority’s closed this port due to swell so unfortunately we didn’t get to visit Biarritz

Ferrol, Spain

5 out of 5
Went on a tour of the historical walled town of Lugo

Oporto, Portugal

5 out of 5
The ship did not dock in its usual downtown port and did not provide a shuttle into the city. However after speaking to destination services they provided tickets for the Hop on off bus into the city. Unfortunately Porto is undergoing major work on there metro system so many streets are impassable. It was very busy but well worth the walk down old stone steps to the port side with markets and boat tours. Walk across the bridge for amazing views of the Porto skyline.

Lisbon, Portugal

5 out of 5
Docked centrally in Lisbon. As we have visited Lisbin on numerous occasions we took a tour the Medieval walled village of Obidos famous for Ginjinha cherry liqueur. Be brave and walk the fortress walls.

Cadiz (Seville), Spain

5 out of 5
We took a tour to the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art followed by a tour of a the worlds most famous fino sherry brewery Tio Pepe/ Gonzalez Byass.

Barcelona, Spain

5 out of 5
Pre booked online tickets to the stunning Sagrada Familia.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was Swift and all baggage cleared labeled inside the terminal building. The ship docked at 7am but wasn’t cleared for disembarking until 8am
