Review summary

This itinerary covers a long distance with few towns along the route. We originated in Anchorage (Seward); in retrospect I think we should have done the reverse by starting in Vancouver. Origination in Anchorage means an overnight stay is almost mandatory to meet the schedule of buses to Seward. The Hilton is an old, crappy hotel with costs of food and lodging in the stratosphere.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Went smoothly; Two double beds were quickly modified into one king bed

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food generally well prepared; good quality except the beef. Overnight at Anchorage Hilton provided to concierge cabin guests was in a very outdated hotel with cramped public areas; breakfast provided day of embarkation was cold, cold, cold.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Did not participate

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Did not attend all shows offered but those attended were entertaining

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service provided by staff generally excellent; staff very friendly; Angelina (room steward) provided exceptional service

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
All areas of ship were clean and well-maintained

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was cozy but adequate for a cruise ship. Angelina kept the cabin very clean and well serviced during the voyage.

Ship tip

Bring a couple of books or an e-reader. Several long passages with little to view or just more of the same pine-covered hills.

Ports of call

Seward (Anchorage), Alaska

1 out of 5
Just passed from the bus to the ship at this port.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

5 out of 5
Very nice tour of the bay fronting this glacier. Commentator provided an excellent description of it.

Sitka, Alaska

3 out of 5
The sea otter and wildlife quest is not worth the money

Skagway, Alaska

4 out of 5
The scenic rail and Yukon suspension bridge tour is interesting on the train ride part; the Yukon suspension bridge is a tourist trap.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
The helicopter ride and time spent on the Mendenhall glacier were interesting.

Ketchikan, Alaska

4 out of 5
The George Inlet Lodge crab feast was great. Included in the fare and more than adequate offering of Dungeness crab

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

4 out of 5
Nice scenery but a drag on time.

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

1 out of 5
Just took the bus from ship to airport.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Well organized and efficient
