25th Anniversary and our 1st cruise by RobertT5

Sail date: /
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

It was a wonderful experience. Captain George is so personable and everyone on the ship loves him. The shows were great and the ship is beautiful. We loved the entertainment and bartenders at the Schooner Bar. You have to book this ship for your next vacation.

Royal Carribean Cruise by DianeC15

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The Serenade of the Sea's was a bit of a dissapointment. The beds were dreadful and the staterooms were showing wear. The dinning rooms were beautiful and the service great, but the food was just average. The Windjamer buffet had the exact same options everyday. The seaview cafe was good, but the hours were limited and since it had the best food on the ship, there were lines. The pool was way too small. The childrens pool was too large and wasted space since it was rarely open. The mini golf course was really nice, But do they really need a full basketball court? This also took up space, On the sea day there were no deck chairs to be had! To date the Crown Princess has been our favorite ship.It is simply beautiful. The Crown Princess is a large ship, but has a small ship feel and very classic design.Back to Royal Carribean, the most dissappointing aspect was the schedule of events. We would look at the compass activity sheet and not find one thing we wanted to do. This was the opposite on Princess. We would find 10 things to do at the same time and have to pick and choose. We cannot comment on the childrens program, because We didn't have the children with us this time.I can say that the Princess scholarship at sea program and the kid zone was great. The ports of call on the seranade of the seas were wonderful and the captain personalized each port.

An awesome time! by StacyS2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was the best time we have ever had on a cruise vacation. The staff was fantastic including the captain of the ship who decided to sail us by some beautiful places such as the island of Montserrat to see the volcano and to see the Pitons in St. Lucia. The food was by far the best we have had on a cruise and the ship was gorgeous. We loved this cruise so much, that we are now considering booking for next year!

a great cruise by Frank6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

clean ship, lots of great food, i was very impressed withthe personnel and there and there performance. i was diappointed, with the music i wanted to dance. there should have been some 40s and 50s music for the older people since they outnumbered the other guests. i consider the cruise excellent with the exception of the music. thank you

Spectacular cruise of the Southern Carib by JoanG4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This ship is a sister to the Brilliance, and both are very lovely ships with a lot of glass elevators. We were on a member's cruise, so as Diamond members we were treated to a free tour on St. Maarten, and a free lounge with drinks and snacks every night. Unfortunately the snacks were the same just about every night which got a little tiring. We found the staff to be very friendly and happy at their jobs. The Captain went out of his way to get us close to the Pitons, and his comments were always clear and informative. I would sail on a ship captained by him again without question.

AN AWESOME CRUISE! by KateZ1

Sail date: /
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship and all of its amenities exceeded our expectations. The food was great and the service was even better. All of the staff went above and beyond to make sure that we got whatever we asked for (within reason, of course). This was our second cruise with Royal Caribbean and definitely not our last with them!

Fun, but not quite what we expected by MattD3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

1) The food quality was quite poor 2) The staff did not go above-and-beyond compared with previous cruises I have taken 3) There were few activities for younger couples 4) There were strange, sulfurous smells near the mini-golf course on some days 5) The ship was clean and looked nice 6) The climbing wall and mini-golf were enjoyable

Fabulous ship and cruise! by KathyS26

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We just returned from a great trip to the Southern Caribbean islands of St. Thomas, St. Luccia, Antigua, St. Maarten and Barbados. The first impression of the ship was how clean it was! We literally saw hand washing stations set up throughout almost the entire ship. The food was terrific! Another couple, who have traveled previously on this same ship said the food was much tastier this time. The servers in the dining room were really great too. We all preferred the Italian restaurant to the steak restaurant, but both were good. The excursion in Barbados was a highlight--kayaking and snorkeling with turtles--super cool!! Only down side was the number of other shipmates and other tours present. Still, got to see the turtles up close which was great! The tour guides then lead us to a private little beach where we hung out for 30 minutes before heading back to shore. We went to a fun place afterwards. It was called something like The Boatyard near downtown Barbados. You pay a flat fee like $15. You get a chair, a drink, and free use of the swinging rope and trampoline. Nice place tohang out, have lunch/drinks, swim, sunbathe. Great shopping in St. Thomas! If you have a spare day or two, check out Old San Juan in Puerto Rico. We had a great time touring the historic fort there. We also enjoyed some good food in town there. Another highlight: We stayed at The Normandie Hotel our last night before heading home. It's near the port in San Juan. It is an art deco hotel with a fun little bar outside and a nice pool. For a more resort oriented stay, try the Caribe Hilton. We walked all over the grounds, and they are beautiful! It sits right on the oceanside. We could easily have stayed there for 5 nights and been perfectly happy! I'd recommend Serenade of the Seas to anyone. It was a very pleasant experience. We would do another one at some point in time.

My Favorite Vacation Ever by LindaH28

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We took advantage of virtually every aspect of the ship - the spa, deck, food, bars, night club, theater, shopping, photo gallery, shore excursions. Everything was clean, well appointed, stunning. The crew was friendly, helpful, and engaging. The artwork thoughout the ship was show stopping. Everything was gleaming. We traveled with 9 other friends and had a wonderful time.

Great first cruise by BrianH3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was our first cruise, and lived up-to and went beyond our expectations. The ship was clean, well maintained, and the ships operations (dining, cleanning crews, etc.) ran smoothly. I was worried about the scale of operations, more specifically the number of passenger that needed to be cared for (2400+ passengers). But, the crew handled the scale perfectly. While on board, we did not feel crowded, and the crew made the experience very personal.

A Great Cruise by SallyeH

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Cruise Ship was fanatastic. Small enough to be personal, large enough to have all the amenities you'd want. Crew was attentive, remembered our names and our "favorites" in the dining room. Only one negative comment about ship - the Chops Grille Restaurant was not worth the additional money to dine there. Steak was good but sides were sorely lacking - the regular dining room food was better!
