Review summary

This ship is a sister to the Brilliance, and both are very lovely ships with a lot of glass elevators. We were on a member's cruise, so as Diamond members we were treated to a free tour on St. Maarten, and a free lounge with drinks and snacks every night. Unfortunately the snacks were the same just about every night which got a little tiring. We found the staff to be very friendly and happy at their jobs. The Captain went out of his way to get us close to the Pitons, and his comments were always clear and informative. I would sail on a ship captained by him again without question.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate at Portofino's and Chops on 3 nights of the 7 night cruise. The quality and presentation is better there, although you pay extra. We did ask for shrimp cocktail which was not on the menu in the Main dining room and although the waiter wasn't sure it was available at first, we did get it which was a nice bonus.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
I did not feel that the entertainment on this ship was as good as what I have seen previously. They usually have 1 or 2 big names, which this trip did not have.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Captain George has set an excellent standard of pleasing the guests, and all of his staff seemed very happy with their jobs and went out of their way to be sure that we were satisfied.

Cabin / Stateroom

E1 room with balcony. Seemed a bit small to me. We are used to having a couch with the bed, and this only had a chair. I did like the new curved sliding doors to the shower - it makes you feel like you have no space, and not have a shower curtain sticking to you.

Ports of call

Bridgetown, Barbados

We toured the island on our own with a taxi van. The sights are breathtaking on both sides of the island.

Castries, St. Lucia

The aerial tram at the Rain Forest was an incredible trip and well worth the price. I would not take it if you are afraid of heights or small spaces, as the tram is only for 9 people and is very narrow.

St. John's, Antigua

Shopping is conveniently close to the dock at this site. We went on a fishing charter which had only 10 people on board, so it was very pleasant, with personalized service, including snorkeling and space to just catch the sun.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

We went shopping here and did not tour the island as we have been here before.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

We went to Bikini Beach on a Diamond Member sponsored tour. The lunch they provided was excellent. If you don't mind nudity, the beach was spectacular.

Pros: Long days at each port
