Caribbean Repositioning Cruise by mellowmiata

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

In general I enjoyed the cruise. Service staff truly was excellent - all of them. Cruise Director was also great, which I found a bit surprising as most we have had on cruises before this seem to be constantly talking on ship's comm about this and that (we have the Cruise Compass and can read, thank you!). Found the entertainment poor for a RCC ship and that was surprising. Also, some of the food was not good, especially the "fresh fish" entries.

Retirement Party by lindao798

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

The lack of activities on the ship really made the sea days long. Not sure if it is bad planning by the Cruise Director or something else. At least the ice cream station was ready for afternoon treats. LOL

Fun and relaxing cruise! by haustrian

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The boarding process was very efficient and our room was perfect. We had a large porthole view and that was fine, our stateroom attendant kept the room immaculate and addressed any needs we had .( ie an extension cord) . The entire staff in all areas were excellent. There were plenty of activities and entertainment, fabulous food which being a vegetarian I appreciated there were options ( as well as sugar and gluten free also) and lots of quiet areas if you chose. I know that my expectations were exceeded and it seemed like all guests from various age groups and backgrounds were enjoying themselves. I'm definitely planning another trip with Royal Caribbean. It was easy to plan this with BJ's.

Beautiful Bermuda by condogan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Serenade of the Seas is an old, but perfect size ship. Never any lines or having to get tickets to shows. Easy to get around and plenty of room on deck. The solarium pool is great for just relaxing. My Time dining and main dining room lets you decide which is best for you.

Not one of our most memorable cruises by Jerrry

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Since we went at the end of October, it was not the best time to visit Bermuda. The trip our of Boston was cold and the weather in Bermuda was low to mid 70's. We had a downpour the second day there in the morning. Our excursion on the first day was cancelled due to high winds not suitable for snorkeling, paddle boarding, etc. It is an expensive island which we found out visiting the shops. We had to return to Boston a day earlier due to a strong storm coming in. Since we were suppose to have two day return trip back we had a day on the ship in Boston for the last day. Problem was, the weather was terrible so not outside activities and no casino opened as well as the shops were closed. Not a good time on the ship the last day. I would recommend visiting Bermuda during their warm season.

Very Enjoyable Time... by ssvann10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

This was my first cruise and it was a good enough time I would do one again! The experiences, activities, and cleanliness were excellent. We utilized both the buffet food area as well as the formal dining area. 95% of the staff were friendly but we had a few that did not seem to be happy to assist passengers. The food in the buffet area was a good variety although some of the bread products were often dry and stale. The formal dining area offered a different menu every evening - we all thought some nights the food was top notch delicious while a couple of nights it was not as good, but still cooked well. The activities were very fun and activities staff even better - they were friendly and conversational and did their job very well. Our steward was attentive and ready to assist anytime. Overall a very fun time! We went with friends and all agreed we enjoyed it very much. One item of note: the DJ in the nightclub was terrible. Terrible music, mixing, and undanceable music.

Serenade of the Seas Boston Bermuda October 2018 by WorkingGirl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Ship is nice, but a little tired looking. Cabins are spacious and clean. As usual, Royal Caribbean entertainment was great. Food is good quality but somewhat run of the mill. Free self-service soft serve makes up for that! Easy ship to navigate for anyone with disabilities, but central elevator bank was usually a little congested. Nice ship and great experience overall, but biggest downside was smoke smell in the Centrum from the Casino and numerous smoking areas around the ship, plus virtually non-functioning Internet. Great cappuccino bar, but long lines.

Worst cruise I’ve ever been on by johnyvolvo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

I was not provided the services I paid for, I planned this vacation with my wife a year in advanced and it was terrible from the food selection to the staff who could care less about you, from being harassed to extremely sick from lack of hygiene onboard , serious waste of $3000, all the hype about Royal Caribbean..... it was a complete joke,I was better off staying home ,

Great destination on a tired ship with hit and miss food, customer service, and activities. by kmrakid35308048

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Food was OK no matter where you went. We had been waiting to try Chops Steak House and when we finally did it took the "chefs" 3 tries, with the same steaks being but back in the oven, to get us to a point where we said I don't care. No matter what type of chef you are, if you are working in a steak house you should be able to cook a NY Strip to medium and a Filet to Medium rare without blackening and drying out the meat. Ship is old looking on the inside, entertainment, other than the 2 comics which were great, was no big deal, the on-board activities were either a trivia contest or a pathetic attempt at a game show. Bright spot was our cabin steward, he was great, Bermuda was great, and the other people we met on and off the ship were great. They have more "pay by plate" restaurants than they do "dining included in the cost" restaurants. A Bloody Mary was over $5.00, I understand that, however a virgin Bloody Mary was the exact same price. Soda program was a joke, we were told there were Freestyle Coke machines all over the ship so you would have a lot of drinks to choose from and could get one almost anywhere. Nope, no Freestyle machines, just a place in the Windjammer Buffet to get it refilled by an attendant and the bars which most of the time were out of syrup and they don't and won't use cans. Not sure we will ever sail with Royal Caribbean again but I am sure we will never sail on the Serenade of the Seas again. A lot more issues but we tried to ignore them and enjoy the cruise which we did for the most part. Alaska, here we come!

Left Behind by rmpmax

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

My wife and I were left behind in Bermuda on 10/25 on day 5 of our cruise. We are both senior citizens and 1st time cruisers. We had the Devil's Isle Cruise Beach Snorkel booked and it got canceled. NO ONE TOLD US ABOUT A DEPARTURE TIME THAT DAY.There was no signs, no announcents no warnings! Our clothes and belongings are all left on the ship.We occurred major expenses as a result of being left behind without clothing, medications and our personal items. This was a honeymoon cruise ruined.

Relaxing by Nanaclem

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

We were a group of 6. Usually it’s just the 2 of us. We met at times and went off on our own at other times.. You could use some tables pool side, it was confusing which was the kids pool. Solarium too hot when closed off, not necessary. Monitors needed for deck chairs with towels.

Relaxing cruise to a beautiful destination! by suzivega68

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

A week of relaxing days with beautiful views. Bermuda has beautiful water and glorious sunsets. The weather was nice with temperatures around 70 degrees F and the light breeze kept insects away. There are some interesting historical sites on the island and beautiful beaches.
