Review summary

Serenade is a beautiful, small ships that takes you to amazing destinations! The service was great but the main dining room food left something to be desired. Embarkation in Vancouver is the worst I’ve ever experienced with a full two hours from when we pulled up to the curb to walking on the ship. If you’re sailing out of Vancouver get there early!

Embarkation

2 hours in line, poor signage.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Service was spectacular but food in the main dining room was often bland, specifically the pasta. Izumi was excellent.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There was a lot going on, but I felt like much of it was geared for an older audience.

Entertainment

5 out of 5

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service was excellent across the board.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This was my first time on such a small ship. It was very easy to get around and everything was spotless.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Forward balcony, spacious, nice location in the ship.

Ship tip

Sailing out of Vancouver, I recommend choosing the earliest embarkation time and get there at least half an hour early.

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

Great food. I highly recommend the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park!

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

Sitka, Alaska

5 out of 5
Sitka was my favorite port on this cruise. We did Fortress of the Bear and the Alaska Raptor Center and while they are not placed you could spend hours, it was good to support places helping the local animals. Sitka National Historic Park is walking distance from the Raptor Center and is a nice place ti walk and check out the Totem Poles.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
We did Mendenhall Glacier hike and Whale Watching excursion in Juneau. I wish we had more to explore the Mendenhall area, but the Whale Watching was phenomenal! I couldn’t believe how many whales we saw!

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
We did the Dogsled and Mushers Camp excursion and it was very cool! Not an experience you can have jus anywhere to meet actual mushers and get pulled by their dogs. I wasn’t sure how authentic this was going to be ahead of time, but then I learned that they use this Camp as strength training for the dogs in the summer and as lo for socializion to get used ti all the people they will encounter on the trail during races. If you are even slightly considering this excursion, do it!

Haines, Alaska

3 out of 5
We didn’t have an excursion in Haines and there wasn’t really much to do there. I wish we would’ve booked some wildlife excursion because we just walked around for an hour and then got back on the ship.

Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska

5 out of 5
Beautiful scenery!

Disembarkation

Where embarkation was a nightmare, debarking was very quick. Once e got an elevator, we were off the ship in 10 minutes.

What was the issue at embarkation? Maybe all the Canadians having to clear US Customs before boarding?
