Review summary

Overall it was an ok cruise. If I sail to Alaska again I would not do this ship. It needs a lot of work. Out of 26 cruises this was in the bottom 5. All really had to do with the ship. In the main dining room there were broken windows. Ship has only been out of dry dock for 3 weeks. I really don’t think they were broken after dry dock. There was pieces of railings missing. No late night food places open. If you are hungry between 3pm and 5pm you need to go to a little stand in the solarium. A little small stand for so many people. We were very lucky with weather. We took large coats and it was sunny and warm in every port. I do think I would try a different time of year if I cruise Alaska again. But not this ship

Embarkation

It went really smooth. They were a little unorganized because they don’t have a lot of experience. Newly back to cruising.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The main dining room was great. Food was good. The buffet was good. Food and staff was good. Chops was terrible. Everything from service to taste was bad. Giovanni’s was bad also. Food tasted better but the service was terrible. We waited 30 minutes for coffee. Our appetizers and meals came out at different times. While one person was eating appetizers another was getting dinner before their salad. For dessert they just brought 4 out and said if we like something we can ask for more. After another 30 minutes of not seeing our server, we just got up and told the host that we’re were leaving. There were only 6 tables of people in restaurant.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Went to jacuzzi in solarium and the water wasn’t very warm. The dancing in Centrum was good every night.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Vibeology was terrible. Looked like a child’s play. First show of the week from stage to screen was good.

Children's Programs

Didn’t do any kids stuff

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our main dining room waiters were fantastic. Especially assistant waiter Jess. Our room Steward, Maria, was the best I have had in 26 cruises. On top of everything. Most employees were very friendly. Just short staffed.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Design was ok. It was clean. The ship itself is really run down.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Standard balcony cabin. Odd shaped balcony.very narrow by the sliding door. Very loud cabin. It is at the door that leads to Centrium. And there are events all day and night. They do close the door around 8 or 9. But open it early a.m.

Ship tip

If booking balcony, book forward cabins. They do not have a obstructed view. The cabins on the hump do not have obstructed views but are really loud. All other cabins you cannot look down at the water

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

Loved this port for the wildlife. The bald eagles are in trees right above your head

Juneau, Alaska

We went whale watching. While it was early in the season, we did see a bear. Had a terrific tour guide that grew up there. We went to a fantastic restaurant for lunch. It was called SALT. Very inexpensive and best food we had on the whole trip.

Skagway, Alaska

4 out of 5
We loved taking the train to the summit. The town was really cute. Although I think it is just a tourist town.

Haines, Alaska

4 out of 5
This is a really cute little town. We were the first cruise back there and they put on a ceremony. Also was able to talk to some of the locals. Very nice.

Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska

We were able to see some icebergs but our ship did not sail into the glacier area. Disappointing.

Disembarkation

Really unorganized once off ship. No one knew where to go or what to do.
