Review summary

All of the ports had exciting things to see except Klaipedia, Lithuania.  In Rostock we took the train to Lubeck which was an excellent choice.  I liked the sequence of the itinerary  because each port got increasingly better, culminating with the king of all ports, St. Petersburg.    The ship is clean, easy to maneuver, the food was very good, and the service was impeccable.

We were aware that some of the berths/terminals were not the usual ones so knowing & planning ahead of time ensured us a very pleasant, satisfying experience.

Ship tip

Check ahead of time the berth/terminal location at each port so you can plan ahead whether to take an excursion, take the shuttle, train, bus, or walk to town.

Make your way to Lubeck, the Queen of the Hanseatic League. Take a taxi to the train station and buy MV ticket there. At the TI in Lubeck, rent the audio guide. You will LOVE Lubeck. No ship excursion there, but you can DIY, no problem.

Klaipeda, Lithuania

Truly a hidden gem. Must see the Art Noveau District. The market square has unique, hand-made crafts at excellent prices!

I would do an early morning walk. Then spend the rest of the day shopping. Lots of juniper wood items at excellent prices and the linens in the shop across MacDonalds look incredible on my dining table at home.

Take the Hop On, Hop Off boat ride around the entire area first. Then visit the Vasa Museum and Skansen Island. Last, visit Gamla Stan.
