Review summary

This was the first cruise for my husband and I. We are easy going but very particular about where we stay on vacations. This beautiful ship exceeded our expectations and the service was premier! For example, at dinner the first night, my husband ordered a drink and from that point on, his drink was ready and waiting for him each night afterwards. Our cabin steward, our waiters, our bartender all knew us by name after the first night. The officers on the ship, from the captain on down were very accessible and friendly. Our cruise director was an amazing guy with a tremendous amount of energy! His efforts to keep people engaged in activities were impressive and he always got the crowd going. There is a lot to do on the ship to keep one busy. There weren't as many kids on the boat, but probably because of the dates we went. It was fun to people watch as there were so many nationalities represented on the cruise. In addition, people were mosly in their 'happy place' and were very friendly. We met many interesting folks from all over the world. To sum up our experience, we booked our next cruise with Royal Caribbean before we got off the ship.

Only thing that could have been better was more organized activities when in port for those who chose not go on excursions.

We had a balcony stateroom and it was well worth it.

Ports of call

Castries, St. Lucia

We did an excursion that lasted most of the day. It definitely could have been a couple of hours shorter. I forget the name, Breathtaking... something, but it toured the island around the Pitons. The extreme poverty of the residents of the island was eye opening. However, the vistas and views around the island were beautiful.

St. John's, Antigua

We did not plan an excursion for St John but we got off the ship to look around in the port. The vendors and taxi drivers harassed us from the time we stepped off of the pier so we just went back to the ship and enjoyed the day by the pool.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

This was my favorite island to visit. Beautiful. We went zip lining with Sky Safari. It was a great time.

Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S.V.I.

We went scuba diving with Cane Bay Dive Shop. It was a two tank dive and we really enjoyed it.

Pros: the 4 star service; the beauty of the ship

Cons: when in port, fewer organized activities on board. would like to see more for those who choose not to do an excursion
