Seabourn goes the extra mile to make sure everything is right. We had one of our outbound flights cancelled at the last minute and their emergency folks got us rerouted so we made it to the ship OK. There was a problem with our traveling companions' return flights (apparently bungled by Seabourn), but Alaska Air made it work so we all got back on the same flights.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was very easily handled right on the ship, rather than in long lines in the cruise terminal.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food everywhere on the ship was exceptional.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Some of the talks were very interesting. I participated in golf putting and shuffleboard games that included prizes for everyone.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The shows were good, but put on too late in the evening, so I didn't attend many of them.
Children's Programs
We had not children along on the voyage.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All the staff were eager to please you. If there was something you wanted to eat or drink that was not on the menu, they would try to find it anyway. There was one incident at an evening meal where it took over two hours; we had made a special order of escargot that they apparently hadn't prepared for adequately, which delayed the appetizer course. Then they didn't get our main course orders right and had to restart that process. The waiter was trying to cover up the problem rather than come clean and appologize. Our cabin stewardess was very friendly, did an excellent job of keeping our cabin clean, and was willing to adjust her schedule so as not to interfere with ours.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
We saw some minor wear in a small number of places, but overall everything was in tip-top shape.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The cabin was very spacious and comfortable, with lots of storage space. The carpet at the threshold was coming up a little, but that was a minor problem. Everything was kept very clean.
It's rather cumbersome to go through immigration at the airport. The bus ride from the airport to the cruise terminal was nice, as the driver took some detours to show us more of the city.
We took the Alaskan Lodge and Seafeast tour, which included two bus rides with narration, two boat rides with narration, a walk in the rain forest that highlighted flora and fauna, and a seafood lunch that was wonderful. Shopping was nice.
We took the White Pass and Yukon Route train excursion, which was very enjoyable. More fabulous scenery, along with a nice box lunch. Souvenirs were available for purchase on the train.
We shopped a lot and got some nice souvenirs in town. We took the Mount Roberts tram to the top of the mountain above town. The views were nice, but would have been better on a clear day.
We took the tender into Sitka; it would be nicer if they had a pier for the cruise ships. It was a beautiful day and the scenery was very nice. We shopped and had lunch in town, and got more souvenirs.
Since we were already in the US after we boarded the ship in Vancouver, we simply walked off the ship, waited a few minutes, and got on the bus. Our large luggage was trucked to the airport separately where we picked it up. All very nice.
