Trip of a lifetime! by Puph2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Sapphire Princess

What an amazing experience. When viewing the glaciers we were able to get so close it was just simply breath taking. Staff was very nice and friendly. Ship had enough to do to break up at sea days. Food was always available and was amazing! I would highly recomend this trip.

A great way to see Alaska for the first time by lisajcase

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sapphire Princess

This cruise was a solid 7. The bar service was lackluster and the food was pretty to look at but boring in flavor. The ports were all nice for a quick walk but you do tire of the tourist stuff after a while.

Amazing time but some things could be better. by akern1975

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Sapphire Princess

Overall this was a trip of a lifetime. My only huge disappointment in Princess was the booking process. I booked the trip in August of 2022 and was given a choice of rooms. I chose one on the starboard side as I thought I would get better viewing from the balcony. Once I downloaded the Princess app several months before cruising, I noticed the stateroom number was different than what was on my original paperwork. Fearing a mix up I called customer service and spent an hour on the phone to have someone tell me that my original room was designated for "covid isolation" so they moved me to the same room on the opposite side of the ship. No one ever emailed me to inform or ask me if this was ok. If I am given a choice and make a purchase I expect to get what I chose to begin with. They did not offer me any credit or compensation. My option was to cancel the trip or deal with it. On the first day of sailing we went over to our original room and there were names on the door. I'm sure they didn't have covid from the first day they walked onto the ship. That doesn't leave me feeling confident when booking with Princess.

Great memories by topaz1313

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Sapphire Princess

Overall the ports were great. I was uncomfortable the whole trip between too much ac on the ship and the cold, wet and windy ports. I had 3 layers on and still couldn’t get warm. There needed to be different entertainment besides trivia 5-6 times a day, more than 1 comedy show and cheaper or free bingo. The views were breathtaking and the excursions were great.

We always wanted to do this California Coastal, but wish it was a little longer and visited Catalina or Seattle. The ports were nice and interesting.

It was nice to get away. There was allot of activity for families with little kids over Easter weekend. Would not go back on that old tired ship.

Enjoyable spring getaway by freediana358912

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Sapphire Princess

We been to close to 30 cruises but never been on a Princess ship. I highly recommend this ship because of the outstanding friendly and attentive staff who works as a team!!Princess calls them “ teammates” rather than “ crew members “ and one can feel the positive vibe on this ship. I also appreciated that Princess offers a venue for Good Friday, Easter Sunday services plus daily Bible Study. Thank you Princess!

We walked A LOT! by tacomarain

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sapphire Princess

My overview of the cruise is that it was adequate for what it was. It was relaxing much of the time but we walked a long way on the ship from one end to the other many times with our canes (My walker wasn't a viable choice as there was not enough room to negotiate the hallways because of the ever present room service carts). Actually had nothing to do with "Wine Country" that I could see. Won't do the cruise again.

Best Cruise in 29 years of cruising by martibee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Sapphire Princess / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

This was the best cruise in 29 years of cruising, My agent, Donnie Brummer, got me exactly what I wanted for a cabin. The trip was phenomenal! Best excursion I have ever experienced was the Princess excursion in Montevideo - The best of Montevideo and Wine tasting tour. Good solid city tour, but the winery had exceptional wine, OUTSTANDING food, and the TWO floor shows. A Tango show that rivaled any of the clubs in Buenos Aires and then another show all about Carnival, A unique experience I will treasure forever. OH, and Antartica was great too. hahahahaha, seriously, we were fortunate and saw everything I wanted to see, and expected/hoped to see and experience.

Wonderful Antarctica cruise by xlsun

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Sapphire Princess / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

We really enjoyed the cruise. Weather dictates what you will on a cruise to Antarctica, but the captain make a genuine effort to allow us to see as much as possible while keeping the ship safe and on schedule.

Adventure with lots of hiccups by iactocha

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sapphire Princess / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

I enjoyed seeing Antarctica and passing Drakes Passage in a larger ship was great. Onboard activities were consistent. Food was passable, but nothing to right home about. Very limited options for people with food allergies. Ship had no diet coke (or other diet caffeinated soda).

A lot of changes with Princess, and not for the good by elindoo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sapphire Princess / Destination: South America

Elite members no longer have 250 free minutes of Internet. Instead they give you half off of an Internet package. In other words you are now forced to buy a package if you want to have any access to the Internet. In the past I used to use my 250 and my wife’s 250 (500 total) to get a thru a week of our Internet needs. Now I have to pay extra. And for what? The Internet stunk. Very, very, very slow, but that is to be expected when you have download speeds of 1.5meg and 2,000 people accessing the line. And everyone is trying to send pictures back home! Guest services. In the past guest services always had 2 lines, one for Suites and Elites, and the other for everyone else. If you were in the elite line, anyone of the 6 or so guest services reps would call on you, making it quite fast to get your issues resolved. Not anymore! Now there is a person at the end of the counter with a sign that says suites and elites, and he’s the only one handling it. All the other reps handle everyone else. There are no queuing lines so it’s a real cluster F as to who will get called on. Bottom line don’t get in the elite line as it’s the slowest moving. Wine: Previously on trips longer than 7 days, in addition to the full booze package, Princess offered discounted bottles of wine. They offered like 7, 9, 11 or 14 or more bottles. It averaged out to around $20 per bottle and you could select bottles from the menu, up to $30. There were typically at least 3 whites and 3 reds. If you saw a $35 bottle that you wanted to try, you just paid the extra $5 (or any price of $30). NOT ANY MORE! I was really planning on this for our trip to Antarctica because I’m not going to buy a 33 day booze package for over $2,100, but Princess no longer offers this. Booze package only, take it or leave it. And now if you just want to buy a bottle of wine, the cheapest red or white I could find on the menu was $40. That’s for Canyon Road which sells for $6.79 at Total Wines. You would be far better off buying a case and paying the $15 corking fee on each bottle! Television: Only a few channels available but much better than in the past. In the past pretty much the only news you could get was via BBC. On this cruise we had MSNBC, CNBC and Fox, and so I was very happy with that. They also had a number of good movies on demand.
