Review summary

We really enjoyed the cruise. Weather dictates what you will on a cruise to Antarctica, but the captain make a genuine effort to allow us to see as much as possible while keeping the ship safe and on schedule.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Embarkation was chaotic and took much longer than expected. Captain apologized for the poor experience, which seemed to be due mainly to the terminal rather than the cruise line, and refunded $50/pax.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The ship was not new, with somewhat outdated decoration. It was clean, although our bathroom had an unpleasant smell. The staff were pleasant; the food was abundant and good given the scale of the operation (2000 passengers at our sailing).

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We didn't use any of these. I enjoyed the enrichment program (presentations by scientists) the most. More of these would have been nice.

Entertainment

We didn't go to these much.

Children's Programs

No children in our group.

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The layout maximized space utilization. It's obvious that the ship was not new, but clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was comfortable. The bathroom could use a more thorough cleaning to rid of the urine smell.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Inclement weather prevented docking for several hours. Captain provided regular updates to keep us informed. The eventual disembarkation was orderly, at least for us, who were self-assisted.
