Review summary

I enjoyed seeing Antarctica and passing Drakes Passage in a larger ship was great. Onboard activities were consistent. Food was passable, but nothing to right home about. Very limited options for people with food allergies. Ship had no diet coke (or other diet caffeinated soda).

Embarkation

Luggage collection was smooth, but that is where it ended. They had us sign up for a time window to arrive, but when we arrived the

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The ship didn't have any diet soda! Food was okay. Only the main dining room is friendly to people with allergies. Other venues don't mark the food for allergens and personnel aren't very knowledgeable, so not safe to eat elsewhere. Given limited hours and being closed when in port, this led to a lot of missed meals.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools were nice, when open. Fitness center was good, but classes were offered early in the morning, when I was still asleep.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Small venue music and entertainment was good. Large venue comedians were great. Magician, ventriloquist and large venue music was not engaging.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Waiters in the main dining room were awesome. All staff were friendly.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Clean but worn down ship. Lots of rust and leaks. Layout is not welcoming. Very chopped up with no natural flow.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Cabin was clean but worn. Bed was great and sheets were awesome. Missed the dividing curtain they used to have between the bed and sitting areas. If one of us was up both were due to the lack of privacy. Shower was too short as it was in a raised tub.

Nice place, but not a lot to do

Port Stanley, Falkland Islands

Loved this. Had to do a private tour, as the ship didn't have sufficient shore excursions. People were wonderful

Cruise Antarctic Peninsula

4 out of 5
It was nice, but I felt like the port side was ignored. They kept announcing things on the starboard side, but not the port. We didn't know what we were seeing. Also, we saw lots of penguins and whales, that they never acknowledged, despite announcing those on the starboard side.

Cruise Cape Horn Did not visit port

Sad seas were too rough. We could only see it from a distance.

Ushuaia, Tierra Del Fuego, Argentina

Nothing to see and locals didn't want us there. Did a worthless excursion.

Punta Arenas, Chile

2 out of 5
Nothing to see. Did a worthless excursion.

Valparaiso (Santiago), Chile

3 out of 5
Really dirty city with lots of vandalism. Did a private excursion.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Due to sea conditions and the commercial port, we were 8 hours delayed in docking. The ship handled this well, but wish they had told us we could stay in our rooms and what food options there were. Luggage collection was a nightmare. Very disorganized with no communications or signage. Took over an hour after we left the ship (with our assigned group) before we had our luggage. And there were no luggage carts or wifi available in the port.
