Ruby Princess

10 Night Alaska Inside Passage (San Francisco Roundtrip)

Sail date: May 20, 2022

Ship: Ruby Princess

Review summary

A good cruise, but not as great as our Alaska cruise in 2015. Not totally their fault, weather when leaving SF really messed up the timeline, and caused port changes.

Food and Dining

Sabatini's Italian Trattoria

2 out of 5

A complete waste of money (thankfully it was a perk from my TA). What Italian eatery gives you just 1 piece of bread?Appetizers, pretty good.Pasta- sauce/good - noodles/overcooked and clumped together.Main course- just a waste of time, barely any flavor.Dessert- so unimpressed

Service and Staff

There were one or two hiccups, but on the whole, the service was very good. Exactly what I would expect from Princess.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Design- It's strange that it doesn't have an indoor pool. Cleanliness- Inside spaces were clean. Outside, they are way behind on rust control/paint.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
A standard Princess mini-suite. Probably would be a 5 but for a crappy couch and a leak at the top of the sliding door.

Ship tip

If you hope for specialty dining, book it on the app in advance of the cruise. They're currently only alternating nights between Sabatini's and the Crown Grill.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

Cruising was fine, kind of pretty. But we never saw the glacier. They said it was because of ice in the water, but it seemed more like they were just behind schedule and wanted to get on their way.

The glaciers we were scheduled for (21 May to 5 June) had ice but we still got within decent viewing range.

Good to hear a positive review during these difficult times for cruise lines during this whole covid mess. I have read so many people whining about bad service and saying its the worst cruise and they will never cruise with Princess again.....why, because they didn't refill their coffee, nobody was right their to get their drink order, app not working so they couldn't make a reservation, smoke in the casino, ect. These are minor inconveniences that people shouldn't let ruin a cruise, but they do it anyway. I dont believe i have had a perfect cruise experience before or during covid, because its unrealistic, and now people have become purveyors of perfection for some odd reason. These are times to cut the cruise lines some slack because these are difficult times, especially for the cruise lines.

Appreciate your feedback. Sorry it wasn’t as good as your pre-Covid Alaskan cruise.
