Given the fact that cruising is just getting back on the waters shall we say and the shortage of staff. I believe that This cruise did stand up to the other cruises that we have taken in the past. Putting on a scale of 1 -10 I would indeed give it a 9+. I'm only taking away a half point shall we say because of the canceled excursion that we were not informed about. I'm now waiting on my credit to my account for the cost of the excursion.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
There were previous folks who apparently had a bad experience with embarkation. However we had no issues at all. From start to getting on the Ruby took us no more than 45 minutes in the green lane. It was very smooth. finish
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We never went into the MDR. My wife and I simply enjoyed the food and drink at the buffet, and we had no issues with what was being served.
Onboard Activities

As with everything in life, you get out of life what you put into it. If you put nothing into it, you get nothing out of it. If you make time for yourself and your spouse, you need nothing else! If you have nothing better to do in life but complain, then you should rethink your priorities. We had a great time because we made time for ourselves, celebrating 44 years of marriage!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
When you have a full ship and only half the crew onboard to service that ship those staff members went above and beyond their responsibilities to take care of those of us on the ship! Great Job Ruby staff members!
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
We have sailed on the Ruby when she took her maiden voyage to Hawaii in 2015. She is getting a little old. However aren't we all in some ways, LOL I'm pushing 70 so I wont complain about the good ole Ruby!
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Our room was perfect for us. This is the first time we have been on the Caribe deck; we usually stay on the Aloha deck. The balcony is bigger on the Caribe. Jaime our room steward took great care of us. He was great!!
Ship tip
The Ruby is simply a good ole ship. Normal layout as is most of the Princess ships. Easy to get around.
San Fransico has changed! We stayed at the Hotel Courtyard San Fransico Union Square. It is nothing like the website shows. We were a little disappointed in it, but we only stayed overnight in order to catch the ship the next day. We did walk around the area we stayed in, but we stayed close as we did see a lot of homeless on the streets.
Haines is a small town based on the former Steward Army base. Interesting history however, especially if you're into history or a veteran like myself. We had an excursion set up however it was canceled, and we were never informed of the fact.
