Ruby Princess

10 Night Baja Peninsula & Sea Of Cortez (Los Angeles Roundtrip)

Sail date: February 18, 2019

Ship: Ruby Princess

Cabin type: Balcony

Cabin number: B618

Traveled as: Couple

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Review summary

Ruby Princess is starting to show its age with backed up sinks and toilets and problems with the toilets' vacuum system (sometimes works, sometimes doesn't work). The furniture and carpet are nice but nicked and worn. On the other hand, the new HD TVs were welcome, compared to the blurry older sets in the cabins. It would also help that the daily newsletter is proofread so there are no date and time mistakes and misspelled words! The front desk never answers its phones, so you have to go down and stand in line to talk to someone. The ports in the Sea of Cortez were OK, but one-time visits. We only saw whales at the mouth to the Cabo bay/Sea of Cortez entrance and the Pacific. Never saw any wildlife in the Sea of Cortez!

Thanks for sharing your cruise with us.

We had a different experience. We've done this itinerary twice with one book in October on Royal. Our favorite port is Loreto. No excursions, just a walk up the main street to have a margarita and people watch.

Despite endless warnings about what can and cannot be flushed down a vacuum toilet, many passengers just don't get it. They treat the toilet like a garbage disposal. Once it stops up, sewage and smells escape along corridors and into cabins until the engineers can correct the problem. On a large ship this typically occurs 20 or more times per day, all over the ship. A single toilet stoppage can have negative effects on as many as 60 additional cabins.

Well, three weeks until we board for Hawaii, looking forward to it. Enjoyed it three years ago.
