Review summary

We have cruised with Carnival for 20 years and this first cruise with Princess puts them to shame. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute and did not want it to end.

Embarkation

Never been smoother, getting onboard the ship was easy. They really no how to do it right!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We did anytime dining in Michael Angelo's dining room every night and they were the best, the food was excellent the wait staff was spot on. Treated us like royalty. For breakfast and lunch the Horizon buffet was great also, plenty of great food and plenty of wait staff to help with anything we needed.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We did all the shows, which were excellent. They had so many activities everyday to choose from and we enjoyed them all. Loved the outdoor movie screen that played concerts and movies all day and night.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
All the show's and performers were terrific, we enjoyed them all.

Children's Programs

Did not take our son with us, he had to stay home and run the business.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All the staff was so helpful and willing to do anything to make us happy.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
It was our first cruise with Princess, so it took us a few days to get the layout down but after that it was well thought out and very clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Ricardo was our room steward and he was the best, he took such great care of us.

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California Did not visit port

Flew in from Las Vegas and went straight to the port.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico Did not visit port

There was a problem with the tender boat system that day so we gave up after waiting over an hour to get off the boat. Very disappointing !

Mazatlan, Mexico

5 out of 5
Did not do an excursion, we just wanted to get off and walk to the shopping district. They made this very simple by putting a big blue line down the middle of the streets to guide us right down to the shopping area, about a mile walk and plenty of security to watch over us. We had a very enjoyable time. Got to walk off a lot of calories.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Did not visit port

We off the boat to go shopping and was told via the cruise paperwork that cab fare to the downtown shopping district would cost $3.00 per person. When we got down to the taxi station they wanted $20.00 to take us there so I turned around and went back on board the ship, don't like to be scammed.

Disembarkation

This was so flawless, I couldn't believe it. They really no how to do it right!

Our 1st cruise was on Ruby and now we are taking the kids on their 1st cruise on Splendor. I’m eager to see the differences between the 2.

They are a huge upgrade from the cruises on Carnival I’ve been on. Same company or not. Just like Hilton owns 2-3 star hotels and then really nice ones. Glad you had fun

You do know that there are owned by Carnival. There are just an up grade from the party ship.
