Review summary

We had a great trip overall. It was our 18th anniversary, and my parents 45th. We really enjoyed our experiences. The weather could have been warmer, but obviously not anyones fault. The port days were fantastic, and we had fantastic experiences overall in the ports. The ship is clean, and fun. Food was great. We would definitely sail with Princess again, however, we are going to try Royal Caribbean next and see the comparison. One of our relatives had been on Disney before and said Disney was not much nicer and for the price would never be worth the extra money.

Embarkation

We were able to board approximately 3 hours early and had access to our room. Smooth, easy, and fast embarkation.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food itself was excellent...the service was great, but at times, things took very long. Dinners most night took almost 2 hours to complete. Now, this wasn't a bad experience, we just thought that it was a little slow. Wait staff was very friendly though. We had a miscommunication with the drink package. I got onboard and ordered the unlimited alcohol/drink package. The person I signed up with apparently thought that I wanted the unlimited soda package. The bar staff didn't mention anything to me about not having the right package every time I ordered alcohol...the bar tab was large. I took it up with management however, they fixed it and just charged me for the package price.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools were good, decks were good, fitness center was a bit small and ceilings were low. The only show we saw was the magic to do, and it was ok, but not spectacular like some previous. We saw the comedian, AJ Jamal...he was absolutely great. We really enjoyed him. I would not want to take my kids on Princess. They would be board. Princess seems to lack more of the kids activities and doesn't have any waterslides or fun pools for them. Other games in the lounges were a lot of fun, and there is plenty to do, but maybe not with children.

Our room was great. Dennis, our steward was on top of everything. Room was very clean and comfortable. Bed was really comfy. Bathroom sink drain broke...Dennis had it fixed the next time we came back and I hadn't even asked him to get maintenance yet. Impressive.

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

Easy to access, but expensive parking.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

So much fun...Las Caletas was beautiful and fun. The lunch buffett there was phenomenal.

Mazatlan, Mexico

We toured the city...We hired a van tour inside the port building. Oscar was a fantastic guide and we really enjoyed the tour, the lunch, and the scenery.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

5 out of 5
It was a beautiful, hot day in Cabo. We thought it was going to be cooler so we didn't plan any water activties. We should have. We hired a "glass bottom boat"...not a very good bottom, but the price was right. $10/each. It was a nice boat ride. I would not be happy if we had paid more, but for that rate...it was great. Saw the arc, and the rock formations. I would say the only negatives for Cabo was that there were so many people trying to sell you stuff that it got a little annoying.

Disembarkation

LA held us up for 30 minutes, not the cruise lines fault. Easy process though and fairly smooth.
