Review summary

Our group of almost 100 reunion cruisers was already asking me when we can do this cruise again. I think that speaks volumes about our entire week on the Ruby Princess and time in Alaska!

So quick and easy!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the breakfasts and dinners served in the formal/anytime dining rooms. The buffet was fine enough for a quick bite. Enjoyed our meal in the Crown Grill. The food we ordered in the Salty Dog Gastropub lived up to its name--very salty! We did not finish anything we ordered, and the service was sub-par in comparison to other dining experiences on the Ruby Princess.

Our room steward, Bren, was so helpful throughout the week and always cheerful! Could not have asked for better service!

Cabin / Stateroom

Our mini-suite was extremely comfortable. Our only complaint was that we were located near a smoking area, and I'm asthmatic, so we could not enjoy sitting on our balcony when the boat was at port. Smoke was wafting it's way to our balcony.

Ship tip

Ensure your external cabin location is nowhere near a smoking area, unless you don't mind second hand smoke.

We enjoyed our whale watching cruise and hike at Mendenhall Glacier. We saw 8 humpback whale "bubble netting", which is a very rare and beautiful sight!

Enjoyed our White Pass Railway train ride with a very large group of friends who were booked with our reunion group. Enjoyed seeing many beautiful sites and appreciated the comfortable, clean train cars.

My husband did a Halibut Hunting excursion with several friends in our group. Our freezer is now filled with the halibut, cod and rockfish he caught!

Victoria, British Columbia

Beautiful city. Wishing we could have enjoyed Butchart Gardens in the daytime. It was a very short, late visit in Victoria and would like to visit again when we have more time.

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

Sorry you were unable to enjoy your balcony to the fullest extent. Princess is very good at keeping the smoking isolated to certain locations, I wish they would post those on the deck plans in order to avoid the situation you found yourself.  Of course the good news is, now you know where you next cabin should be.

Yes, certain designated smoking areas, and the casino. For smokers - not a lot of legal areas.

Princess allows smoking on the open decks are regulated to certain spots. So when the ship is in port smoke will rise.

Bubble feeding thats awesome!!!!! Thanks for the review.

Are you saying there are smoking areas on the ship, or that the ship was just docked beside a smoking area?

I thought Princess cruises were non smoking? Where are the smoking areas on this ship?
