Review summary
My husband and I had a wonderful time on this cruise! Loved the itinerary- particularly Puerta Vallarta and Cabo. We weren't in Cabo very long, however, which would be a criticism. We spent the most time in Mazatlan, which didn't feel as safe as the other two ports.
we had amazing service on the cruise, and always so enjoy meeting waiters and other staff from all over the world. Truly, they try to do whatever they can to make your time onboard perfect!
i didn't love the ship itself. It was ok, but after having sailed on the Royal Princess last time, the spa wasn't as nice...particularly the thermal spa and the locker rooms. There were only 2 stalls in the women's locker room, and it seemed that one of them was perpetually out of order. Bear in mind that this locker room was used by spa patrons, gym patrons, and by The Sanctuary and adults-only pool patrons. Always a wait for the bathroom.
I also found the buffets to be much smaller, with fewer options than we had on the Royal Princess. The food quality was excellent, however, and we mostly ate in the DaVinci dining room for our meals (Club Dining)...that had its pros & cons. No lines (yay!), no fighting for a table (yay!), awesome service (yay!). I, however have some serious limitations as to what I'm able to eat - for health reasons - and sometimes the buffet is just a better option because I can get the amounts I need and have more options than when ordering off of a menu.
yes, I would absolutely recommend this cruise! I think I just got spoiled on the bigger, newer Royal Princess last time.
