Best cruise vacation ever by tbev

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Great cruise from beginning to end. Have been on Ship before so knew my way around but loved Club Class Mini Suite option this cruise. So many perks, including priority embark and disembark, plus the special area in the dining room with no waiting. The weather was perfect and had a good itinerary. Especially loved the Christmas decorations to get us in the holiday spirit.

Nice time away by ONU1907

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean

We had a great time with our family, it was good to get away. This is our 6th cruise, 2nd with Princess. We do love Princess but I don't think I would choose to cruise on this ship again. The other Princess cruise we took was on the Crown Princess - I don't remember coming home from that trip feeling like I missed out on something. I want to come home and say "fantastic" when people ask how our trip went. This time I just can't say that.

The most amazing 14/day Caribbean cruise yet! by iambarbara000

Cruising is so therapeutic. It releases the feel good endorphins in the brain. Even when the sun is not shining outside, it’s shining brilliantly inside your brain!

Overall wonderful 7 day cruise by Lfisch

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean

Great time. Downsides: Always long line at guest services. Even on day before disembarkation only had 4 staff on duty, other days less. Dining room reservations for anytime dining were always filled by the time we called. It wasn't until the last day that I noticed in the small print that reservation line opened at 8AM. Never knew that or would have called at that time. Dining room service could be quite slow (20 minutes between finishing main course and received dessert menu). Some of the longest dinners we've had on any cruise.

Loved every bit of it. Some of the bar staff weren’t always the friendliest. The food was okay, the cruise director ROCKED! He was the light of all the activities!

Really enjoyed the ship it was beautiful. Only complaint which isn’t really a complaint. The deserts weren’t that great very processed flavorless stuff. The “pastry shop” was not good same dry brownies and very good lemon cookies everyday. Staff was great helpful it was a great experience. I would said on this ship again.

Best first cruise anyone could ask for! by syd68h

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean

We had a wonderful time on the Royal princess. The service and food were excellent and while I personally didn't care for many of the activities that were offered onboard there was still a wide selection of things to do every day. I definitely recommend this cruise for anyone wanting to relax and be overwhelmed by so many things to do.

Wonderful Cruise. by CarolK69

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The Royal Princess is a beautiful ship. The entertainment was exceptional. Shows were good and the band Static were the best we have ever had on any ship. Our trip was a little clouded over by the “Murder Mystery” that is being looked into by the FBI. The cruise went on as usual however.

Great Southern Caribbean Cruise by ROJBrian

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Princess always does a good job. We don't do the dance shows so I can't speak to those. Love Movies Under The Stars, and the entertainers mentioned. This was our first "Sip and Sail" which was extremely nice. The ship had a special cleaning before we embarked because of problems with norovirus on prior cruise, but as far as I am aware there was no problem on our cruise. We did have a death/ murder, but really don't know much about it and it has been a week since the cruise ended. Dining in dining room at night takes too much time, at least an hour, but likely more and that doesn't account for needing to get dressed up and waiting.

Royal Princess - Eeks me thinks not!!! by sk8rsmom22

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

First, when you board a ship that has just had to be disinfected when asked to wash your hands wash your hands!! The crew is nasty, they charge the wrong cards, you have to tip a rude argumentative person. They preach safety but do not adhere to it 100%. They make the balcony is plunged in darkness at night. Very easy to trip and hurt yourself. The water stations have water all over the floor a very serious slip hazard. Crew members that stand there don't care. I wiped it up many times and was told to leave it. Sorry I do not want to slip and fall. If you want to spend money money money then they "new" princess is for you. They tend to charge you for almost everything. The all inclusive drink is not all inclusive. They want to charge for wine and soda in the cans. (outside of the dining room). The young lady that does the coffee and hot chocolate is wonderful not matter how slammed she is. The pizza has gone down hill as well as the rest of the food. Pictures that they take cost $25.00 a picture. They are not that great. The spa is over priced as are the bingo tickets. I am surprised they don't charge for the shows. As I said in my title the Royal Princess Eeks me thinks not! Never again! I will not address the incident that occurred out of respected for the victim. It also has nothing to do with my review.

We will do this cruise again, but try another cruiseline. This was the cruise where the woman was pushed off and was killed. There was a lot of rumors as to what happened. Not very comfortable.

Classic Cruising: Review of the Royal Princess by DeedeeG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

That Princess picked Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, to christen the Royal Princess in 2013 reflects what the cruise line delivers—a classic cruise experience. You won’t find zip-lines, go-karts or tattoo parlors on this ship. But what you will find are excellent shows, varied food, elegant décor and a laid back, relaxing vibe that helps you, says Princess, “come back new.” Eating The MDR. The main dining room food was, well, main dining room food. The Norman Love desserts were a standout, but the rest was a mixed bag. The buffet. Horizon Court was truly the most expansive I’ve seen on a cruise ship. There were very good roasts, many vegetable choices, multiple salad bars, and premium foods like mussels, calamari, shrimp and salmon, a big variety of cheeses (brie! Gorgonzola! Edam! Stilton!), terrific fresh rolls and focaccia, smoked fish, prosciutto and quiches, as well as a few Asian dishes, for foodies like me. There were also typical buffet foods, from fried chicken to meatloaf to lasagna. Theme nights were fun—German, Italian, Brazilian and American. While not everything is terrific, it’s hard to imagine not finding something to like. The specialty restaurants. At Crown Grill, the service matched the food—both were outstanding. The 8 ounce filet mignon was fork tender and flavorful, and the molten chocolate cake was deliciously decadent. My travel companion had the sampler plate—four mini versions of their desserts—and I was jealous. The nibbling. There’s also a 24-hour International Café with good quality sandwiches, quiches and desserts, and pizza thought to be the best at sea. Watching The shows. Princess has upped its game significantly on its production shows and two in particular were outstanding. “Encore” had a romantic, old-world set with tunes both familiar and new, with a bit of opera thrown in. But the best was “The Secret Silk,” which featured a sweet story, amazingly elaborate and colorful costumes, and constantly changing interesting sets with an Asian theme. All showcased Broadway quality singers. The movies. Movies Under the Stars (MUTS) is like a drive-in without the car (but with better audio!). This trip, they were showing “Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again,” among others. Snuggle up under their red plaid blanket on a padded lounger, load up on free popcorn and you’ve got yourself a different way to do the night. The fountains. While some complain that the fountains take up precious pool space, they are fun to watch. The water spurts out every which way, in color and to music, with the movie screen doing something or other in the background. Playing The Royal Princess has some great activities, such as an inexpensive wine tasting ($9.50), interesting lecture by ship officer on navigation (here’s a tidbit: life boat capacity on the ship well exceeds the capacity of passengers plus crew), galley tour and behind-the-scenes event by the production show staff. These last two events were offered free—there’s often a charge on other cruise lines. You’ll also find the usual cruise events—game shows, contests, bingo, ice sculpture demo, karaoke, dance lessons—as well as the spa, casino, etc. And then…Princess’ mini-suite can cost not much more than a balcony if you time your trip right…Horizon Court buffet is well staffed with waiters who will bring beverages such as orange juice, coffee and water to your table…The buffet is open with a full dinner until 11 p.m.…the balloon drop on the second formal night was a colorful and lively party combining bopping to music with balloon popping…music around the ship varied from steel drums to solo guitar…there was a wedding chapel tailor-made for vow renewals… In fact, there’s quite a lot to like about Princess. And it’s why we find ourselves on the line again and again. - Musing About Cruising
