Annual spring cruise on Princess by JohnPringle

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We have done this cruise the past few years and always enjoy it.  We really liked the Beatle group, Travis Turpin, and the live entertainment.  The food in the Horizon Court was great.  The dining room selections did not appeal to us and we only went to the dining room 1 night.

Please see our comments about the movies under Entertainment.

10 Night Southern Caribbean Medley by normandpyle

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We enjoyed the itinerary very much, as it was a good mix of ports and scenery. Having 2 sea days at the end was a nice way to relax before getting back to reality. The staff was excellent and the food delicious!  We felt that the layout of the Royal Princess was easy to navigate and everything was well marked.  Certainly this cruise has our recommendations.

Great by LuvtocruiseI

All of the cruise was wonderful, the entertainment, the food, the service, everything.  The service was excellent, Room steward always there for answers, used room service and that service as also very good.  Entertainment in the Princess theatre was short, no shows were over 45 minutes.

10 Night Southern Caribbean Medley by jengel1946

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship was clean and well configured.  Staterooms were very nice and balcony was used often.  I missed educational classes that might include the history of the islands, the cultures and people.

Excellent Caribbean Cruise by CruisinDog

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We did this 10 day cruise to the Caribbean in February.  We went to the Princess Cays (private beach... very nice and relaxing), St. Thomas, Dominica, Grenada, Bonaire and Aruba.  The weather and seas were fabulous the entire trip. My favorite stop was Bonaire. This is a small island with only about 19000 people, but the best part is the snorkeling. All the waters surrounding Bonaire are a Marine Sanctuary and it shows. Simply incredible snorkeling and diving here!

The Royal Princess is a great ship.  The staff is friendly, helpful and overall they get a 5 star review.  Happy  I would recommend this cruise to everyone.  We did not get off the ship at every island we visited but the ones we did we totally enjoyed.

Had a wonderful time! by janis33iea

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our fifth cruise with Princess and we were treated to one of their newest ships.  Such luxury and comfort!  We have never been disappointed with Princess and will definitely continue to cruise with them.  A Caribbean cruise is so dependent upon the weather and we were lucky that we had warm, rainless weather for the most part.  We enjoyed all of our excursions, all of our meals,

and all of the onboard entertainment.  I must also complement booking through .  This is the first time that we have booked a cruise ourselves and United (and Pablo, our United Cruise representative) made this very easy and worry free.  And the bonus miles from United were an added plus.  I would definitely look at booking through in the future.

My favorite part of the cruise was snorkeling at the port stops.  Overall, the ship was beautiful, our mini-suite felt large, the food was good, we met some nice people, and the service was great!

Made the best of a cruise that really didn't focus on service by StevenCampbell

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was our first time on Princess and will probably be the only time.  The food was definitely below satisfaction! I am a vegetarian and made that know from day one and was basically told that my entree choices were of two items for the whole 10 days....right! We ended up eating 8 nights at the additional charge restaurants so that I could actually enjoy my vacation. The employee's on the boat rarely spoke to you when walking by you in the hallways.  We had an issue with an excursion and the Princess company gave us a whopping discount of $13.99 even though we got stuck fro 30 minutes without transportation and an excursion that should have only been 3 hours ended up being 5 hours and we couldn't enjoy the island we had visited.

We cruised with 4 other couples to places we had never been.  We had no complaints about the trip.  The destinations were beautiful, the cruise was everything we thought it should be, Thanks to Princess for a memorable vacation.

Probably as close to perfect as it can get. by dkulik

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Start with the few negatives. First two nights were a little rolling and rough. No falt to the ship just rough seas. Only complaint where the towels were kind of old and rough.

staff, food, room were wonderful.

excurtions were fabulous, especially St. Lucia aerial tram ride through the rain forest.

Cruise was good, but had an issue with bed bugs. by Dukie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Our cruise was pretty good until the second day when my husband woke up itching. He had been bitten 38 times by bed bugs. We found 2 in the room and notified the front desk. They were very prompt on addressing the issue and immediately moved us to another room. All of our clothes and suitcases were taken to be checked and cleaned which made us feel better. The down side was that we did not get our clothing back until late the next day. My husband went to the doctor on the ship and was given an antihistamine and a steroid crème for his bites. It was a horrible experience! I ended up with several bites as well. We have traveled and taken many cruises in the past and this is the first experience that we have ever had with bed bugs. I hope to never have this happen to us again! Our cruise was very nice other than this instance. We did have a wonderful dinner in the Crown Grill.

Royal Princess, Eastern Carribean by mcm4ack

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

St Kitts, using an independent tour guide - Grey Tours, was the best of the islands. Please consider Mr Grey, very knowledgable, polite, fun guide. Avoid ship tour for Marigot Bay in St Lucia. 3 hours of bumpy roads to see the bay from 2000 feet away!! Great ship, but closely monitor cabin bill. Princess charged us $30.00 for drinks in the DR AFTER we bought liquor pkge! No response after a week so I am contacting credit card company. All in all, wonderful time

Christmas Caribbean Cruise by CarolSwango

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We got off to a bad start as we had difficulty locating the Princess greeter who was standing off to the side and her sign was not visible. She said it was not her job to find us nor help with our luggage, she really was not very pleasant and certainly not helpful.

The ship was beautiful bur our Penthouse Suite was smaller than those we have had on other Princess ships. The balcony was almost impossible to use as it was so small.

We missed the sink in the bar area and the center drawer in the desk and no mirror over the desk. If there are two in a room then there should be two of everything, including two mini bar set ups when both occupants are elite, no matter if you get another because you are in a suite. If this is a benefit for being elite than it should be available to all those elite in a cabin and not just one or to be shared.

We  really enjoyed the concierge lounge and the attendant there was very helpful when she was there but her hours were limited.

The service in the dining room was so slow (sometimes three or more hours) and even if we told the servers that we wanted to see the show. Thus sometimes we would not go to the dining room if we wanted to see the show. Sabatinies  was very nice and they made you feel very welcome and the food was excellent.

We enjoyed meeting the other travelers and those working on the ship.

The tours were very good and the guides were friendly and very knowledgeable. I use a wheelchair part time and those in the tour excursion dept. were not very helpful unless I  really made a point of asking for help.

I would have liked to have taken my granddaughter on a tour of the backstage as she is in theater but I did not see that offered on this ship. The shows were good but a little loud and I heard others complain about this too.

In all, it was a good cruise and we really like the Easy Check.

The Best Cruise EVER by rocknrollheart

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

From beginning to end, this cruise and cruise line DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! Usually there is one or two things that could be improved upon in any given excursion or vacation, but I can not think of one thing that I would like to have done differently or Princess Cruise Line to do differently.

Poor quality for food in Symphony Restaurant and the Head Waiter seemed no interested in our complaints. by dvfourteen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We and our travel mates M/M Henry Lesburts made reservations to have dinner every night in the Symphony Restaurant, at 5:30PM seating same table same waiter, the table looked lovely flowers, the usual 4 rolls and four butter patties. On the 1st night we were served a very poor quality of beef with a gravy, it was tasteless, and honestly didn't even look like meat., and the waiter always asked how we wanted it cooked, it always  looked the same. We all  tried to make made the best of the situation figuring it was the first night. On the 2nd night the same thing happened the same cut of meat was served with a different sauce on top, and at one point we asked the waiter to take it back and get us another one, when he came back to the table with the new plate of food honestly there was no difference, it was dry and flaky and looked like a pot roast when questioned he said it wasn't.. We were even looking to possibly change our choice to Chicken but it wasn't on the menu. On the 3rd night nothing had changed, so we decided that we would take matters in our own hands, since the Head Waiter seemed to be unconcerned about our issue with the quality of food we were being served.  After dinner that night we all went down to the desk and made an appointment with the Head Food Person,  he called us back and we did meet with him prior to going into dinner that night at 5PM on the 4th night.  He wanted to know what the issues we were having with the food, and we explained the best we could all about the poor quality of food we were being served. It looked as if one huge piece of beef was cooked on the first day we sailed  or it was already put on board already cooked and we were being served that for 3 nights just with a different gravy or sauce. It finally came down to, we were basically eating more rolls then the dinners that were being served. It actually got funny because on that every night after we spoke to the Head Food Person we went to dinner that night, to find 2 baskets of rolls and 2 dishes of butter on our table . And we all looked at one another and started laugh and agreed that we had to suck it up and go with the flow before we let it ruins the rest of the cruise.  We were totally disappointed in the food and the lack of concern from the Head Waiter. I can assure you that the tips left for our Food Server and Head Waiter were not by any means what we usually would leave.

To be honest I have been asked by a few people about the food, and my reply was, it was horrible the worst food  I have ever eaten on a cruise.

We were on the same cruise a couple of years ago no complaints. we usually book a Mini Suite and our friends book a Full Suite  We love the  Sanctuary and book as soon as the doors open, we go to the Beauty Salon, Body Services  and the Casino and enjoy having drinks prior to going to dinner at some of the different Bars.  As matter of fact we also gave our cabin person Rich a very high recommendation for his great service..

We have been cruising since 1981 with different Cruise Lines but always come back to Princess but after this experience not really sure we will cruise with you again.   You need to look into the food situation,  I'm sure we are not the only passengers who complained.

I would appreciation hearing from you in response to our complaint.

Respectfully,

Peter and Dawn Verdone
