Review summary

We feel this was the best vacation we've ever had. Although going to Alaska is a little more money, the experience is like none other.

Food and Dining

I'm not complaining but the food was not consistently as good as we have had on the Regal and the Caribbean.

Cabin / Stateroom

We had an obstructed view balcony and we loved it. The only real obstruction was that you had to lean out just a touch if you wanted to see toward the back of the ship. We were well pleased with our cabin.

Ship tip

Take advantage of the activities. Our son regretted not going to the kids zone until the last few days of the cruise. They have some great activities for all types of people. Don't regret missing something neat.

Ports of call

Juneau, Alaska

We did a private whale watching excursion and were able to see things you wouldn't believe. It was well worth the money of an excursion. I had people tell me they wouldn't suggest doing an excursion like that because you can see those things from the ship. They didn't know what we saw. I recognize all trips are different but we were able to see orcas jumping out of the water, humpback whales with their babies, and stellar sea lions. I couldn't believe all the bald eagles we saw also. Amazing!

Skagway, Alaska

We rented a car for this port and then drove to Carcross and emerald lake in the Yukon. We had the best time but it certainly was a long day in the car. Well worth the time though.

Cruise Glacier Bay

The glacier were amazing to see and we also saw humpback whales and sea otters. So much fun!

Ketchikan, Alaska

We rented a car and drove around the area. It was so worth it and much cheaper than doing an excursion.

Been on the Alaska run three times, would do it again, even though it is a bit pricier. 22 days until the Sea of Cortez.

Princess is our cruise line of choice! Glad you enjoyed your cruise! We've sailed on the Royal 3 times and it is a beautiful ship. Cruising, if you break it down is cheaper than a land vacation.

Agree with you. We cruised Alaska on Coral Princess. It was AMAZING. We also did the land portion with Princess and it was great. We did the private whale watch which was expensive but so worth it as you stated. I would encourage anyone going to Alaska to spend the extra money if you can. Thanks for reminding me of how wonderful that cruise was.
