Embarkation

5 out of 5
Arrived at the ship and a few minutes later we were on the ship. No lines!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was excellent. What was not excellent were the long wait times for "Anytime" dining. You will need to make dinner reservations and don't expect to eat before 7:30pm. Very disappointing

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
The pool area is too small for the number of passengers. The pool was always crowded so we didn't use it.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Over the course of the cruise there were three comedians who each did two nights. They were all terrific and we enjoyed it immensley. Also enjoyed the two movie nights in the Vista lounge at the rear of the ship on Deck 7.

Children's Programs

I did not have any children with me

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service in the dining rooms was impeccable, and my room was kept clean and was well maintained.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Common areas were well maintained. I do miss a promenade deck. If you want to walk for exercise you need to go to Deck 17 where there is a small track ( 7 laps = 1 mile). You feel like a hamster in a crowd.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin is mid ship and also fairly close to the elevators. Walk up three flights of stairs to the food court and the pool area. We did experience a problem with the sliding door to the balcony. It was extremely difficult to open from inside the cabin. It was reported to maintenance but was never fixed

Ship tip

This was my first cruise on a ship this large. I'm not sure if I want to cruise again on a big ship because of the difficulty getting a dinner reservation prior to 7:30pm

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5

St. John's, Antigua

5 out of 5
We went on a catamaran and did snorkeling by a reef. The catamaran then stopped at a beach for a little swimming and some rum punch. Did not get much of a chance to visit the port city, but was not impressed by what we did see.

Castries, St. Lucia

5 out of 5
Took an excursion to the Pitons which included some hiking. The tour guide did a great job explaining the local culture and customs.

Bridgetown, Barbados

5 out of 5
Went to see Hamilton Cave and then some beach time. Crystal clear water at the beach.

Roseau, Dominica Did not visit port

Hurricane damage. We visited St Kitts instead

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

4 out of 5
Booked a tour after getting off the ship. Still lots of Hurricane damage on the island

Grand Turk Island Did not visit port

Captain said the seas were too rough so he decided to skip the stop.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Got off the ship 15 minutes before our assigned time and it was easy to locate our luggage. No lines at customs. This could not have gone more smoothly.

I was just on the Royal 3weeks ago. We never waited to be seated in the anytime dinning and we went at 5:30. Also there is more then one pool, you just have to look for it at the other end of the ship on deck 17

The Royal is a beautiful ship! Been on her 3 times! Sorry to hear your anytime dining experience was disappointing. We had no problem last time we were on the Royal(April 17). Were you aware there are more pools than the one on main deck? What ever the case glad you enjoyed your cruise and hope you continue to cruise Princess!!
