The Royal Princess is a beautiful ship. The line-up of this particular cruise and the ports of call were excellent choices. One can easily maneuver around on their own to the different ports without feeling the pressure of purchasing shore excursions. Restaurants separate from the buffet were just as nice and were exceptional when it came to your choices on the menu. We were summoned to a late check-in due to illness on the ship. But under the circumstances, Princess seemed to have it all together and ran its course rather smoothly thereafter. We've cruised with Princess before but never in a balcony accommodation. My husband and I decided for now on we will probably do so after this cruise.. The acknowledgement of our anniversary was an added plus. Currently, we are "Ruby" members and have revery intention of making "Elite" members.

First few days in sailing at night, we would smell fumes from the ship. When I called office to complain, I was a little taken back from the female's response of "it's coming from the ship and there's nothing she can do about it". That's not exactly what a paying customer want to hear. But I do know under no circumstances should FUMES come back into our cabin. But as the days continued on, we were able to once again enjoy our balcony and sometimes leave our door open to hear the waves at night as we slept. Therefore, we assumed the problem had been solved!!
Ship tip
Definitely have a steak in the Crown Grill restaurant. Excellent!!
Not much to do here. Best to book either several days pre-cruise or post-cruise in London. We flew into London roundtrip, "coached" via National Express to Southampton to start cruise.
Streets are easier to maneuver around. There's a bus for 4.50 euros that "claims" it will take you around different sites but you never get off the bus. Waste of time. To do Herm or Sark best to take ferry early because the boat ride is 45 min there and back
Paid 17 euros to catch train to Cork (Kent Station) roundtrip for two people. Train ride 45 min. Purchased bus ticket 7.60 euro/pp roundtrip to Blarney Castle (Bus 215), which drops you off within walking distance to castle. Had enough time to return to Cove, purchased Hop On/Off tic (15 euros)/pp) to see sites.
Paid 9 pounds for roundtrip/2 people from James Street Station traveling to stops of Chester, Llangellen, and Lever House. Also had enough time to do Hop On/Off
City Tour offers 2 for 1 deals for 20 euros/couple. Tours last approx 2 hrs, hop on/off, all major stops with live guides. Make time for Golden Mile lots of a restaurants and shops
Only transportation is shore excursion bus ride (2.5 hrs) into Paris. There's is a train but it takes just as long. You're only provided aprox 4 hrs to tour Paris. Check before you cruise, national rails were putting together 1 hr train ride from Le Havre to Paris. Much cheaper than shore excursion of $129/pp roundtrip
