Look into the package . This was our first cruise ever and we did not do the all inclusive and don't know what it entails. Just internet access and daily crew appreciation fees @ $ 16/day/pp added up to well over $ 400. Maybe we would have been better off getting a package deal and we will look into it ourselves for our next cruise.
I would never sail again on the Rotterdam, and any other Holland American ship because of the food poisoning I sustained onboard. Also the loud music levels, and doors slamming in the stateroom was non-stop, and very aggravating, and disruptive.
Excursions do book up quickly, so book early. We reviewed the sites we wanted to see in each port and if the best sites to see( which they often were) were within walking distance, we wouldn’t book an excursion. I really liked the excursions, but couldn’t afford to book them in every port.
We learned after 4 or 5 nights that our main dining room servers could provide other, basic food not listed on the evening menus. Don’t be afraid to ask for something different.
