We loved the ports of call but were disappointed in the experience on the Rotterdam.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Everything was very organized and we were on board within minutes.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
There was a good variety of food choices and the meals were excellent.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
There were very few activities scheduled and the few that were scheduled were not greatly organized.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The entertainment was not appealing except for the singers and dancers performances which were excellent. A violinist, a pianist, a movie, a documentary with the band playing music. We wanted to go to see the first show of the magician, but the 10:00 show was cancelled due to a water problem. Most of the nights we skipped the Main Stage offering and either saw a movie that was playing in Wajang Theater or played cards. We did enjoy the popcorn at the movies. The worst offering of entertainment we have ever experienced.
Children's Programs
No kids
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Waiters in the dining rooms as well as pool area were excellent. I have a food allergy and the steward in the main dining room always made sure I could select my meal choices for the next night. The wine steward was always very attentive. I had no difficulty eating.

We had a lanai oceanview room and was assigned two lounge chairs just outside the sliding door. There was no sign or indication that those two chairs were assigned to our cabin. Thus, people would sit there and became very annoyed, and sometimes rude, when we politely informed them that the chairs were assigned to our cabin. This made for many uncomfortable situations that occurred along the entire dockside for us as well as others lanai stateroom occupants. It would have been so simple to indicate the stateroom numbers above the chairs to eliminate the problem.
The common areas were clean.
One of the tenders fell, causing around a 8 hour delay while the crew tried to raise it back up. To no avail and they finally had to bring it back to shore and leave it.

We were surprised to have so few drawers and no refrigerator. The cabin needed a few more hooks and storage areas.
The air conditioner did not work to full capacity and the cabin remained warm throughout the cruise. This was an issue on the entire row of cabins near us. The tried to fix the air conditioner in the room. They shut off the entire system one day but was not able to fix the problem. They gave us a small fan, but it did not work. They then sent an industrial-size fan that was too big and noisy to use. Even though we kept the control on the coldest setting, every night we slept with only a sheet and some nights it was difficult to sleep because it was so hot. We received a $130 credit for our inconvenience.
The DVD player did not work. They brought a new one and it only skipped toward the end of the movies.
The room stewards kept the cabin clean and orderly throughout the day.
I loved the tub/shower. It was very roomy for a ship and the water was always hot.
We had an excellent half-day private tour with Frances. Her husband picked us up and brought us back to the ship. He then came back at night to bring us to a restaurant in town. We walked back and had a lovely meal and evening.
Was disappointed with the tour we booked with Shore Excursions. It was supposed to be 4 hours; its was 3 1/2 hours. We were supposed to have 2 hours at the beach but only had 1 1/2 hours which was too shore a time. Would have loved to have at least 3 hours. The tour guide was not that informative and we returned on the same route that we took to get to the beach with the guide saying, "We have a 445 minute ride back, so sit back and relax."
