Review summary

We were there for the weather (escaping the Northeast weather) and the ship life. the food was excellent and everything is well done.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
probably took less than 20 minutes from arrival to getting on ship

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
the food is superb. the specialty restaurants served great food. all buffets were interesting and varied greatly from day to day.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
this is a ship known for its food so the activities were not important to us. However, we enjoyed the comedian and trivia. most fellow travelers were polite and interesting.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
we only saw two shows and both involved the comedian.

Children's Programs

i did not see a passenger under 20 on a ship with 1215 passengers.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
the staff in all parts of the ship were friendly and accommodating. we are not demanding travelers, so all services were more than adequate.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
everything was well maintained. our room was cleaned twice a day whether it needed it or not.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
actually in hind sight, the best value on this ship are the oceanview rooms which are the same size but without veranda. my spouse enjoyed the veranda. it was always clean and the bed was extremely comfortable.

Ship tip

the oceanview room is a great value and you may not want a veranda depending where you are sailing

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

Key West, Florida

we did a tour by ourselves and it was fine. there are plenty to pick from in the Duval ST area.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

3 out of 5
usual tourist trap shops. we did not do an excursion.

Santo Tomas De Castilla, Guatemala

2 out of 5
unless you use the beach or snorkel, nothing to do here

Harvest Caye, Belize

3 out of 5
interesting trees but not mush else

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

3 out of 5
got off but did not go to far. I was on this cruise for the ship life and not the ports

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
lots of big stores for tourists. we did not do an excursion.

HAVANA, CUBA

4 out of 5
this port is interesting from a historical perspective. the city must have been beautiful over 60 years ago. it is decrepit now. we did do an excursion and our Cuban tour guide did not serve up a lot of propaganda. an interesting stop was the cemetery. A good book to read before you go is Nelson Demille's The Cuban Affair.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
it was orderly and relatively quick.
