A very pleasant cruise by ArthurS5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall our cruise experience was pleasant. The entire staff was courteous and helpful. We were a bit disappointed with the dinner menu but not to the extent we would not cruise this ship again. We would not visit Ocho Rios, Jamaca again regardless. This is not to say we would avoid a cruise that stopped there, we would simply stay aboard.

Great Cruise by ToddA1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Rhapsody was beautiful and glamorous. We enjoyed sipping cocktails or coffee in the Centrum area where we had a spectacular view of the Ocean and could often listen to live music. We always felt like we were at a fancy hotel, albeit a floating one. Plenty of activities and entertainment were provided during the 'At Sea' days, and it was up to you to participate as much as you wanted. The evening shows were a great way to complete the day by adding entertainment around the evening meal, and were scheduled in such a way that they were easy to fit into your schedule. We also enjoyed visits to the gym & spa in the mornings on the Sea days, to get ready for the day and work off some of that great food from the night before! The ports and excursions were the highlight of the trip and I would encourage anybody to sign up for at least one excursion per port. This allowed us to get some real flavor of the islands versus just the gift shops that are always the first thing you run into getting off the ship. Our only negative experience was getting ourselves from the Houston airport to Galveston. This was a real beating as none of the local shuttle services we found were reliable. We had opted not to book this through Royal Carribean, and regretted that decision in retrospect after sitting at the airport for 2&1/2 hours after not one -but two!- shuttle services we found online left us sitting there. We would reccomend simplifying your lives and booking the local transportation through RC.

It was a smaller ship than we had been on before but found it had everything we needed for a fun vacation. It was clean, not too crowded and had lots of hand santizers!

Horrible Cruise by GeorgeB5

Sail date: /
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship is looking pretty seedy and worn out right now. We have gone on other cruises lines and enjoyed them immensely, but this one was a shocker! To have spent the money for this cruise made us angry and disappointed. A big sculpture in the center of the ship doesn't replace memorable food, service, and comfort. Because our beds were so horrid, we awakened most days around 4:00 with stiff backs. We tried to use the hot tubs to loosen up, but they were closed until 6:00am. On Thursday, I went down at 6:15 to use the hot tubs and they were still closed. When I asked why, I was curtly told they had over clorinated them and they would be closed until 8:00. I wondered up towards the other pool and found 2 hot tubs open. Why couldn't anyone tell me to try another area.....?

we will be back by ArnieW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I really enjoyed the dining experience most of all. Our waiter and maitre'd were extrememly helpful and entertaining as well. My compliments to the musicians in the dining room at dinner. The variety and quality was excellent. I also very much enjoyed the music on the pool deck. The reggae/steel drum was fabulous and I do believe they appeared to be the hardest working people on the ship as evidenced by the fact that every time I went outside it seemed they were there playing their hearts out. Bravo! The only aspect of the cruise that I was disappointed in would be the breakfast menu. I am a big fan of breakfast and when we ate in the windjammer it seemed that the food had been there too long for me to call fresh (not a fan of buffets) and the selection in the dining room was not that great either. On a different note I was very satisfied with the shows and especially the last show on the cruise. The various activities - indoor and out, seemed well attended most of the time and were effeciently run by cruise staff. The casino was great and after only a few visits many of the dealers greated me by name and the bar attendants were always present and friendly.

A cruise to remember by LynnO

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is our 8th RCCL cruise. The cleanliness and respect to passengers is clearly lacking. The food remains excellent in both the dining room and Windjammer. The "headliner" entertainment was excellent. The ships entertainers were quite lame and boring. We have noticed the lack of many little niceties. The cruise staff was not always available. The activities at poolside were lacking such as things like limbo contests, horseraces, dance contests. You could always find ice cream late in the evening. Now the only ice cream in the evening is the Ben & Jerrys at about $5.00 per cone or bowl. They did not offer the many activities that qualified for ship shape dollars such as aerobics, aqua aerobics, dance lessons, etc. Instead they offered pilates, spinning and yoga FOR AN ADDITIONAL FEE. What is theis with all the added expenses all of a sudden. It used to be that everything except drinks were included in your cruise price. Now they charge for the extras. We really noted the lack of care by our room steward. He was hardly ever around. We were missing the hair dryer from our cabin. Even though I mentioned this to him, I shared the hair dryer with my niece across the hall. One evening my husband and I had to share a bath towel even after I had called for a second one and it never came. As Platinum members, we did not receive as many onboard activities as in the past. For instance, we only had one bath robe to share. We did not receive the little discount booklet, nor were there as many "parties" for Platinum members.

Christmas Cruise by Elizabe41105108

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall it was nice. Everything was very neat and clean. The ship provided hand sanitation stations around most every corner, which I welcomed. The pool area gets cramped at times and the decking seemed a little worn. The chairs in the pool area are not very comfortable (around the tables). There doesn't seem to be too much outside activity during days at sea.

Cruise staff not very helpful, and the cruise director needs a few more classes...prior to every excursion there was mass confusion, someone who barely spoke english was trying to give directions and the cruise director was never around....obviously to busy trying to be a pretty boy and making TV spots

Honeymoon cruise by CatherineP3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my third cruise. It was a honeymoon cruise. When I booked the cruise i was told there would a surprise by the cruise line in our room. I told them I would prefer the 13th as to the first night. Nothing ever appeared. We had received the romance package as a wedding gift, but there was nothing extra. Rather disappointing. Good winnings on the slot machines.

Buy the trip insurance by DianaB4

No one ever plans to get sick. Buy the ship insurance. My daughter had to get off in Cozumel for medical reasons. The medical fees on the ship and off were outrageous, but foruntately, we had trip insurance.

Mucho Fun! by CarolW10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my husband's and my first cruise together-only married 1 1/2 years-and neither had cruised with Royal Caribbean before. Cruising is not his favorite method of travel, but he is already talking about another cruise. I love cruises and would definitely cruise with Royal Caribbean again although not the same route. Neither of us care too much for Mexico and would have preferred more time in Key West or Cayman and skipped Cozumel. Would not do a cruise that only goes to Mexico. The service on the cruise was excellent-our room steward went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. Our waiters were excellent-my husband and I like lemon with our water and after asking the first night for lemon, we always had lemon at dinner. Could not have been more pleased with the service. Enjoyed the variety of activities on the ship-played "42" in the card room, joined in the beading classes, walked daily and used the work out room, and just enjoyed the luxury of the ship. The Christmas decorations were outstanding-especially the Gingerbread houses.
