Great family cruise by JuneN

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This is the first time on Rhapsody of the Seas for me and my family. The crew was so efficient and helpful... (except for the last morning, when they wanted us off the ship quickly, our waiter would barely speak to us). They kept us informed of everything...daily...the White Pass Train ride is absolutely worth it..it was spectacular. The food is also wonderful and the youngsters were catered to throughout the cruise. The entertainment was also 1st class with no off-color jokes. Our stateroom attendant did a fine job. The only thing Royal Caribbean could have done much better was the initial boarding...We stood in a very long line for a long, long time. Disembarking went very smoothly, though.

AWESOME CRUISE!!! by KathiH1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Crew was wonderful, always friendly, helpful, cheerful, hardworking, eager to engage in conversation when time permitted. Food was just right, buffet was always well kept. Weather was incredible for the 1st wk in May. Even the captain said best weather coming into Juneau May 10 he'd seen in 9 yrs of sailing in Alaska. Loved everything. Wanted to relax and not do too much & that's exactly what we did!~ Cant wait to book another w/Royal Carribean. Rest of my family was on Celebrity Millenium at the exact same time & did not have as good of a time as we had! Thanks to all!

the best cruise ever! by LouisaG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The public areas were all very clean & well maintained. The food was excellent & varied. So many activities & so little time - I wanted to do them all, but couldn't be in two places at once. The staff was the absolute best - so friendly, helpful, and funny! I loved that after a few days many of them were greeting me by name. They really went out of their way to make everyone feel great & have a wonderful time. The day we were supposed to dock in Skagway the weather was very bad and ended up cruising to Mendenhall Glacier instead. The staff really did an excellent job that day to make it worth our while & added activities to the day's itinerary.

We had a great time. We sailed this same ship 5 years ago. I think the quality of service has dropped off a little, but overall the staff took good care of us.

We had a great Alaskan cruise on Rhapsody. The staff was always helpful and cheerful. We enjoyed the shows immensely. The cabin was comfortable (great bed and pillows) and our room steward was fantastic. Rhapsody is a lovely ship.

Great Dinners by BirgitN

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Ship was starting to look tired. Several leaks in ceilings, thus giving off a musty smell in some of the hallways. Paint chipping in our stateroom. But great staff and great dinners.

It couldn't have been better. by AT404

Sail date: /
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

It couldn't have been better. The only concern I have was with your fitness director and her presentations. I went to two presentations (Waistline and tummy slimmer) and I vowed I would NOT go to another one. All she was doing was giving a sales pitch on her detoxing program. I listened the first time and the second presentation I could answer her questions. She did NOT give any suggestions at all in any area. I was very disappointed. Before I went to her presentations I did make an appointment to have a Hot Stone Massage. That was absolutely wonderful!!! I would do it again in a heart beat. Our cabin services were the best and the meals in the dining room were out of this world as was the service. Thank You Thank You for wonderful memories for my husband and myself.

Alaska was awesome! by RhondaF2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We had sailed on the Rhapsody of the Sea before so we knew what to expect. The entertainment was a little disappointing this time with only two nights that they offered the entire song and dance group. Others on the ship had commented on this too. Food was excellent and staff very helpful.

Lack of Communication by SteveS26

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We have been on a total of four cruises with three different carriers. This was by far the worst. We received very little information from the captain and staff as to what was going on. There was very little information on the TV as to location of the ship, expected arrival at next port, distance traveled etc. This was standard information on other cruise lines. We seldom heard from the captain and he did not even show up for the "Photos with the Captain" event. Instead, the assistant captain showed up. This trip was supposed to include a cruise past a glacier in Tracey Arm Fjord. In the middle of cruising this area, the ship abruptly turned around and headed back out of the channel. It was not until later that we found out that the captain had decided not to proceed up the channel due to ice conditions. We were told that an announcement to this affect was made below deck, but not on deck. Most of the people were on top deck to see the glacier, so we never heard this announcement. As a matter of fact, you could not hear the announcements on deck, in the restaurants, or in your state room. The only place that you heard the announcements were in the halls and common area below deck. Many people were complaining. One other problem was the show scheduling. Our dinner time was set at 8:30pm. We scheduled this trip in February, for the first part of June and that was the only dinner time available. The show scheduling was set up so that sometimes we could not make either show, without missing dinner. Some people left dinner early or came late, in order to at least catch part of the show. Royal Caribbean came highly recommended to us, but I would have to say as far as the Rhapsody of the Seas is concerned, I would not recommend it at all.

Very nice ship by ConaeR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This was our first cruise and we really weren't sure what to expect. The staff of the ship were very friendly and the surroundings very tastefully done. Our room had plenty of storage and was very comfortable. The only drawback to our trip was that we were stuck with 2nd seating for dinner which is too late for us. You are allowed to do "Anytime dining" which prepays your gratiuities in advance and allows you to use which ever seating you like, but it was so crowded we saw people from the 1st seating eating at the buffet because the line was so long.

Nice Cruise by VirginiaA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Over-all experience wasn't so bad. However, the itinerary that was given to me was incorrect and ended paying out of pocket $30 to get to the port. The itinerary stated that we are leaving from Ballentyne Pier which is much farther than the Canada Place. When we got there we were informed that it was a mistake the ship is leaving from Canada Place. I informed the Royal Caribbean staff hoping that they will refund me. I had to remind the staff several times and now hoping that they will really do something about it and refund me. This is not acceptable mistake cause how can a cruise line make a mistake on giving passengers the wrong Port. The ship was very clean. There were glitches along the way i.e. formal dining room, for the first seating it should be at exactly 6 pm but they hardly open the dining at exactly 6 pm so people were lining up outside. The food menu was good. There was variety of food being served especially at the Windjammer and food was plentiful, no time to get hungry. Staff was very friendly and attentive.
