Review summary

Probably won't sail Rhapsody again for a long time. We have been on the other ships in this category several times and loved them. This one just didn't have the same feel. Everything just felt lack luster, from the food to the activities to the staff. Just didn't get a great vibe.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
Embarkation was very confusing. No noticeable lines for different levels. No pencils to fill out health forms, just felt very unorganized.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
food was mediocre at best. Main dining room menu was the same as every other RCCL ship on the same day. There menu never varies. The food in the Windjammer was lack luster as well. Ice tea and Lemonade had no taste. Much of the food was salty, fish was dry, just what we normally experience on a RCCL cruise.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
If you like trivia, you sure have your opportunity on this ship. Did show a nice selection of movies, however, the game shows once again are all the same, so if you sail RCCL a lot, be ready for the disco party, love and marriage, etc.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Headline shows were okay. Beatle tribute was good

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
We had an excellent room steward, Luis. We never had to ask for anything for seven days. There were two bar attendants, Mary and Speedy, who were exceptional. Most of the rest of the staff we encountered were not very ambitious. We felt the wait staff in the Windjammer were not very interested in cleaning dishes from the table, not asking if you want something to drink, etc.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Decorated nicely for Christmas. Very easy to navigate around the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Very small, as expected, but kept very clean. I was concerned about being on the 2nd deck, however, it was a great location. Very quiet, location was perfect for disembarking for ports. The elevators were speedy, so we never had to wait long from deck 2 to get a ride.

Ports of call

Key West, Florida

4 out of 5
Nice to see it was not damaged by Irma. Operating as usual. We just walked around the town. Drawback was we were docked at the Navy yard, so needed to take a shuttle to town. However, the shuttles were great always going back and forth. Never needed to wait to catch a ride.

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
As usual, every vendor hacking their wares from jewelry to tours to food and booze

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
The port where we docked is now almost complete with Dolphin Discovery, shops, restaurants, pleasant walkways, and entertainment. There is a shuttle at the back of the port shopping area that will take you to the town. There also is a water/zip line park which you can see from the ship. Looks like it could be fun, if you like that stuff.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
That was the best part of the trip. Extremely organized for the walk offs. We were off the ship by 0720. Great job!! New thing to s was no customs forms to fill out, very quick through customs.

What room were you in on second floor

We were on the rhapsody a few weeks ago. The windjammer staff always asked if they can help or get you drinks. Even v8 juice was no problem. Excellent service at windjammer and mdr. That’s what we experienced on our cruise just a few weeks ago. But I agree, rhapsody indeed shows her age... debarkation was a real mess. Had to wait for hours to get off the ship...
