Loved the itinerary and places we visited and saw. However, we were VERY disappointed with Oceania overall.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
After arriving at the Cruise Terminal in Sydney, Australia we were told that embarkation would be delayed due to ship (Regatta) possibly being contaminated with the ânoro-virusâ from the previous passengers. Turns out, it was 1.8% of the passengers (10-12) at most that complained of gastrointestinal issues. They were completely sanitizing the ship before we would be permitted to embark. By the time we were finally allowed to board, the check in lobby was packed, and everyone who had âstatusâ with Oceania waspermitted board first, so we waited a long time, although we were one of the first passengers at Terminal.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Overall good, but we disappointed, because Oceania markets itself as a âluxuryâ brand, and we did not think it was any better than other cruise lines weâve been on (Celebrity, Norwegian, Carnival, Royal Caribbean).
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Small ship with primarily older crowd, equates to.....,,not a whole lot to do.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Production shows were below average. A lot of it had to do with a horrible venue they had to use. The theatre setup is terrible. No stage, no elevated/staggered seating, limited size.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Overall really good. Not spectacular though.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
Cleanliness was good, but this old, outdated, small vessel needs replaced or complete overhaul/update.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Overall good since it was much deeper than similar category cabins. However......Bathroom was by far the smallest of any ship weâve sailed. Shower was a phone booth.
With rough seas, on this tiny ship, being all the way forward on the port side; we got the crap kicked out of us on the first night in the Tasman Sea.
Ship tip
If you even think the area youâre cruising may be susceptible to rough seas, book a midship cabin on a lower deck.
