This is now rated as one of our best cruise experiences. The Regatta was always clean, comfortable and a pleasure to come home to after a long day ashore. The service on board is excellent and we never had to wait for a table or make reservations to dine in the elegant main dining room. All the cities and towns we visited in Australia were delightful and and enlightening.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Very smooth, no lineups. Room was ready and only a short wait for our luggge.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Never a wait for a table in main dining room which we preferred.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Lots of activities but, we always looked forward to Trivia - great fun.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Ships' singers, dancers and band were very good. Other performers, not so much.
Children's Programs
Regatta is a smaller ship and does not cater to children, which is why we like it.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff were always cheery, polite and couldn't do enough to make sure we were happy. The service is second to none.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Although a smaller ship, Regatta has the feel of being much larger and well laid out. Always spotless and well provisioned.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Cabin small, not enough storage for our 31 day cruise. Bathroom and shower were tiny. Very bright and clean, however and bed and bedding were bliss.
Ship tip
Make sure all your waistbands are elastic. The food is always varied and excellent..
My husband took Oceania's excursion for a forest walk which he did not enjoy. Very poor conditions and nothing much to see. Oceania's tour descriptions are rather deceptive.
Very crowded with tourists. The only dragons we saw were a cluster of smallish ones around a man made watering hole. Looked very staged to me. Of course, with so many people crowded around any wildlife would be far, far away, out of sight.
A big disappointment. Stuck in traffic for hours. Not at all as I remembered it from years ago. I suppose. lot of popular places are now overrun with tourists.
Perth was the BIG surprise. Now, my favourite city in Australia. A gorgeous, modern city with beautiful surrounds. Fremantle has kept its heritage feel. Although opposites, we enjoyed them both.
Lovely, well designed city. We also took a tour to Hahndorf, now a very touristy town up in the hills, filled with boutiques, shops and art galleries. Crowded but fun.
A city now filled with skyscrapers with more to come. The downtown section is quite a ways from the port and the ocean but it does have a lovely river running through it. We used the hop on hop off bus which is fully narrated, so were able to see a lot in a short period of time.
