Review summary

We had a wonderful time. Alaska is a vast country with many different landscapes. Fascinating to get close to glaciers and to the wildlife on some of the excursions. Very tranquil and to be thoroughly recommended.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very short queues and a smooth process.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was excellent. My wife has dietary allergies and great care was taken to provide for her needs. Both main and speciality restaurants provide varied and good quality food.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Regatta is a smaller ship with clientele that are perhaps more mature than some other lines. No provision is made for childrens’ activities (stated in info about the line). There is plenty to keep one happy, though, on sea days. There were some inspirational lectures too.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Enjoyable and varied evening entertainments from musical shows to stand up and magician acts.

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service is excellent. The staff are all very helpful and keen to serve. They react well to passengers who are willing to engage with them and talk about their lives. Quite educational.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Everything was clean and well maintained. Some aspects are getting a little tired but the ship is due for a major refit in September 2019.

Commercialised so if you do not want to shop pick an excursion to see the fjords or wildlife.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

Very small but beautiful. Great wildlife trips.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Lots of shops and great excursions to see glaciers and hikes for wildlife.

Skagway, Alaska

4 out of 5
Commercialised but good for excursions.

Sitka, Alaska

5 out of 5
We saw it on a wonderful clear day. Saw see otters and whales, salmon spawning and had a great guided walking tour.

Victoria, British Columbia

5 out of 5
Excellent introduction to Canada. The inevitable shopping but the sights and sounds are there to be enjoyed. Lots of green spaces.

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

5 out of 5
Beautiful city with loads to do, so varied. Very environmentally conscious but something of a problem with homeless - reflects very high property values.
