Alaskan Cruise and Inland Tour by DeniseM2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The ship and cruise were exceptional. The whole experience was relaxing and worry free. Anything that was needed was easily provided immediately. The travel agent with whom we dealt was exceptional. When we had difficulty with the on board credit, I emailed our BJ's agent and within hours it was addressed and taken care of. I highly recommend the ship and the cruise line.

The Radiance of the Seas was the largest ship we have been on. It was very neat and clean. We really enjoyed the cruise and every port. I would recommend an Alaskan cruise to everyone.

a great trip by HarryB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: South America

We were 1st time cruisers and have to say the ship and the staff on the radiance of the sea was above our expectations. We were the last group to go around cape horn as carribean cruise lines has dropped this from its list. The day we rounded the cape it was clear and sunny (cool ) and the ocean was as calm as you could get it. Overall it was well worth going.

Un crucero imperdible by AlbertoW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: South America

Very disappointing RCL experience by LindaH22

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: South America

The getting on/off the ship was horrendous. Extremely poorly managed and left us with the uneasy feeling that if there were a true emergency we were doomed. The ship wasn't very clean, right down to dirty glassware and cutlery. They took one city out of the itinerary and then we couldn't dock at a second location. Seemingly refunding our shore excursions and port tax was supposed to make us feel better. The entertainment was mediocre and passengers were inconsiderate.

A fantastic Land and Sea Cruise by ByronT

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

I was skeptical about such a large ship. However, this ship was very well organized and the personnel were fantastic in their courtesy. The ships internal elevator layouts eliminated congestion normally encountered. And the Megaship syndrome was avoided. Radiance of the Seas has it right! This cruise changed our impression of prior cruises on other lines, and now has us looking into another Royal Caribbean Cruise.

Review Title: A magnificent cruise! by AliceS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This was our first cruise so I have nothing to compare it with. However, I can't begin to tell you how much we enjoyed it. The Radiance of the Seas was absolutely beautiful, well maintained (very clean), and everything you might need. The places for dining were the absolute best. The food served in the Windjammer was very well prepared and delicious. Needless to say, the Cascades Dining Room was beyond wonderful. The waiter and assistant waiter were extremely efficient and very nice (personable). Our stateroom (8114) was exactly where I would have requested it to be and also well cared for. Our stateroom attendant was very helpful and kept our cabin immaculate. You were informed at all times of all activities and could choose what you wanted. We definitely would choose this ship again, or any Royal Caribbean.

Start to finish, it was a great vacation. From the organized boarding to the disembarkation each day was meticulously planned and carried out. I don't see how it could be improved - smooth as silk.

Great way to start the Summer by JanetJ4

Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This was our family's third cruise. Overall we had a wonderful time. The ship was beautiful, the staff was friendly and helpful. The scenery was spectacular. The food was quite good. Getting on and off the ship was pretty easy. I had read another review which said that waiting for a taxi at Ballentyne Pier was horrible, so we had a car waiting which took us right past a pretty long line! The only cons for us was the dining times. 6pm is too early for dinner, 8:15pm is too late. In addition, I wanted just a glass of wine at dinner, my husband, one mixed drink. This required a wine person and a separate drink person to write up our charges and bring us our drinks. This was in addition to having a waiter and assistant waiter for food. This was so cumbersome, really unsure why it has to be done this way. We took our teenage girls with us. They hung out with us the whole time so cannot comment on the programs for that age group.

Won't Go Again by DaveS8

Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was pleasantr enough, but there was only one outdoor pool available for adults and it was monopolized by mostly drunken college age kids. Food was OK but not what I expected. The production "show" would be below average for a high school production... almost laughable it was so bad.

We had a wonderful time on the ship. The port's of call were not the best with the exception of Grand Cayman. The ship overall was excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. We found the lack of pools to be a problem.

It was okay .... by Krisl1

Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first trip on a Royal Caribbean cruise. Last year we took a Carnival cruise on one of their older ships. We did not like the Royal Caribbean cruise as much as we enjoyed the Carnival trip. This ship was nice but did not knock our socks off. We had been told that once we went on a Royal Caribbean cruise we would never want to go on another cruise line. This is not the case for us. We would rather go on another Carnival cruise. The shower curtain never stayed in the shower. The floor was always wet when you were done with showering. There was no room in the shower to bend over and shave your legs. Rest of the cabin was very roomy. Elevators seemed very slow. Easier to take the stairs (up 11 decks) than to wait for the elevator.

Great family vacation by PaulaB4

Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Had a wonderful first cruise with this line. Staff is very friendly and makes you feel special by calling you by name. Pool water temperature becomes uncomfortably warm towards end of cruise. Portofino's and Chops are great, some of the main dining room food could be better. The entree's were good but salads and appetizers, not so good. Should offer anytime dining. 8:30 is too late and 6:00pm too early. Castaways buffet was the best of all cruises I have taken. Departing the ship seemed to take forever. Great value, definitely recommend.

Good cruise but have been on better by MaryF12

The ship was nice but a bit on the smaller side compared to other ships in this cruise line and other lines. Smaller shopping area on board but loved their "Every item is $10" section.

This was our first cruise and we loved every minute of it. It is so beautifully decorated. The service was superb. Our waiters Rathan and Franklin, were so kind and friendly. Our cabin attendant took wonderful care of all of our needs and even beyond our needs. He took extra care in pleasing us.Everyone was wonderful. I can't wait to take another cruise and yes, I would go on the Radiance again.

Only regret "We had to go home" by Amandab11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is our second cruise on the Radiance of the Seas. The first was only my husband & I. This one we brought our two boys ages 13 & 15. It was a blast! Everyone was very helpful with our questions. The Cruise Compass that they delivered to our staterooms each night about the next port, was very informative. It had the dock time, weather, deck to disembark, the stores the ship guarantees friendly service, maps, a short review of facts about the port and everything else to do onboard the ship. I hate to say that we never made it to the main dining room this time. We ate at the Windjammer Cafe, the Seaview Cafe and Chops Grille. The Windjammer always had many choices. Between the four of us we had Chinese, Burgers, pizza, fish and pasta, all for dinner. While we were waiting for our reservation time at Chops, we all enjoyed a drink (virgin for the boys) at Schooner Bar & the staff there was friendly and fun to converse with. She paid attention to the boys & asked them questions about their day & their cruise experience. She got those clams to open up and give details! That is a feat in itself! We ate at Chops twice, once on the 15th & again on the 18th. The food was excellent! I hate to say it, but when I shop for cruises, I only go on ones with Chops Grille. We had the same waitress both nights. She remembered what our likes & dislikes were, what we ordered & also both of the shore excursions we did on the 15th, along with details! Talk about Customer service. Our shore excursions that we purchased thru the website before we left were all very well organized and well worth the money. We always had free transportation to and from the ship. We brought along our cameras, but we did not have to use them very much, almost all of the shore excursions had someone taking video and/or pictures of us. That way, we all four could be in them. Some of the excursion staff delivered the disks to the ship for us as well! Guest Relations made sure that the disks were in our staterooms after dinner. We had two balcony staterooms next door to each other. The boys were in one room (as long as they are right next door, it is allowed to let two minors have a room to themselves). Both rooms were made up as one queen, we asked our stateroom attendant to change the bed in the boys' room to two beds & it was done within 15 minutes! The boys were always intrigued to see what the towel sculpture was going to be when we returned to our rooms! This was the best family vacation with the most diverse & memorable experiences that we had ever had!
