Cruising Alaska is absolutely a must! by BillW37427601

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The Radiance of the Seas was just the right size for us. There were never any lines at any event, or meal we chose to attend. Every crew member was very enthusiastic and they always greeted us no matter the time or place, The weather in early August turned out to be cloudy, cool, and raining just about every one of the seven days, but since we were coming in from a drought midwestern state, it didn't bother us in the least. I would definately cruise again on The Radiance of the Seas.

I am a registered dietitian and a \"foodie\". I was so impressed with the food. Amazing that quantity food production can also be quality. Nice to have the option of feeding establishments. I also enjoyed the wine lists. All staff was very friendly and personable and the ship was clean at all times.

A good cruise for the money! by SharonS36940360

Sail date: /
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We sailed on Radiance of the Sea from Vancouver to Alaska. It was a really nice ship but then I have nothing to compare to. I loved being able to sit with a drink (the bottomless diet coke was SO worth it!!!) and watch the water. We had the opportunity to meet the captain and he spent some time chatting with us....a really nice guy! I loved it! Alaska is beautiful! I never thought I would like it but would go again...on Radiance... in a hearbeat!

Visit Alaska, Skip the Cruise. by JackieK2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska

There were parts of the cruise that were wonderful! Our stateroom attendant was delightful & was definitely doing her best to make our stay memorable. The food in the specialty restaurants was phenomenal!! You had to pay extra for that, of course. The food that was included was just fair, like something you would get at IHOP. The thing that made me rate this cruise so poorly was the Guest Relations desk. They were awful!! Our first day on the cruise, we went down & asked them if we could get "luggage valet service" (which was something they advertised was available). The man behind the desk said that we could not have that service since our cruise ended up in Vancouver BC instead of the US. We said ok and then on the last day of the cruise (after talking to others who had this service), we went to Guest Relations again and asked about it & were told that yes, it was available, but you had to purchase it on day two of the cruise and now, it was sold out. It was like that for everything. You'd ask Guest Services something and one person would say one thing, and then you'd find out that person had been wrong and need to talk to someone else. Very frustrating! I highly recommend visiting Alaska. It's breathtakingly beautiful. But book your visit on the Alaska Railroad instead. Much better value for the money & much better service.

Radiance Cruise by JeanL4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We sailed on a cruise for the first time in about 15 years. Things have really changed. We were on the Radiance of the Seas in Alaska and had a wonderful time. There is alot to do on the ship and the ports of call were great as well. For the future, I would pass on the "shopping" meeting held on the first day out. Instead of getting some helpful shopping tips we got one long commercial from the stores that pay the cruise line for advertising. We liked playing cards with our group but the card room was pretty small so getting a table was hard.

Fantastic Cruise Experience by SamL1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The cruise itself is pretty good. However, be cautious on the unfriendly departure port, Seward in Alaska, and arrival port, Vancouver in Canada. We were pulled over by a Seward police right in front of the cruise ship and issued a traffic ticket on passing without enough clearance 5 miles outside Seward purely based on witness reporting. We had no idea what exactly happened because we were not caught at the scene at all. Within one hour right after we arrived at Vancouver, we were issued a speeding ticket driving 29 mph in 30 zone because Canadian is using km instead of miles (note that Canadian uses lb in supermarket). In both cases the local polices knew we were tourists but apparently used citations to make easy money. On our return flight from Vancouver to US, two of us were randomly selected by US Custom INSIDE Canada airport for screening. Nothing wrong was found but we missed the direct flight and were re-routed and almost forced to stay overnight in the Seattle airport, if not because the last flight of the day in Seattle was delayed for 1-hr. Due to the increased security in boarderline, cruise stopping in Vancouver becomes a big hassal. I highly recommend the cruise to deport in Seattle in the future.

Very nice cruise ship and itinerary by SamL1

Sail date: /
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Pretty nice and comfortable cruise ship, which was apparently renovated recently. Food is pretty good except not enough variety to choose. No more Escargot dish like before most likely due to budget saving. Nightly shows were not as good as expected, which were reflected by the low attendance.

Alaskan Cruise by VelmaH

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The ship size was impressive and the staff was friendly. I didn't like that everything was extra, such as soda, fresh orange juice, and good food. I did like our room with a balcony.

excellent cruise by HenryD1

ship is good, overall stable and well constructed. rust spots appear many times, wear and tear can be seen on many features, and windows were cleaned while on board which made a mess.

Alaska was amazing!! by JenniferG4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The ship was nice. The service was great! We enjoy better food, so I think we will go to a different brand. People did not dress for dinner and the ship did not enforce dress codes. Some people were wearing jeans and tee shirts to the dining room and even on formal night, unbelievable to us.
