The Panama Canal cruise should be on everyone’s list of itineraries. You won’t regret it whether it is on the Radiance of the Seas or another RCCL ship.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
One if the easiest embarkation we experienced
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
We didn’t use the MDR or Specialty Restaurants. We used the buffet in the Windjammer. The food was hot, diverse however we were disappointed the selection did not mirror the menu in the MDR. My past experience has been the WJ menu mirrors the theme and options of the MDR. Very dissatisfied
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
The activities were plentiful to keep you busy.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The production shows were lacking in our opinion. Comedian’s weren’t funny, entertainment mediocre, the best entertainment was the Band, High C Horns, and Henry was a pleasure to listen to day after day.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
As usual RCCL staff were too notch.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
For an older ship the layout and design was relaxing, clean and well maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
This was our first Oceanview cabin on a lower deck. We realized there are several benefits to staterooms on lower decks such as returning from shore excursions you don’t need to wait for elevators to return to your cabin. You can access MDR, other venues without the need of elevators. We would definitely consider lower cabins going forward
We did do an excursion (I cannot remember the name of it) the excursion gave us the opportunity to see the island and leave us with a sense that we would consider a return visit.
We did the Panama Canal Tour which I recommend because this tour is at the EXPANDED transit, and we were fortunate to see a cargo ship transit through which is a different perspective than being on the Radiance going through the transit.
We did the Hop Off, Hop On Bus Experience. This was challenging because of the hundreds of street vendors that are in your face the entire time. Trying to be respectful in declining their goods takes a lot. Made the experience very annoying.
We did the Dolphin and Sea Turtle Experience. If I had to do it again I would recommend doing the Swim with the Dolphins and Turtle Experience. You won’t regret it. Also if you want pictures/videos of your experience buy the photo package at the facility before doing your encounter or swim you will save $$$
