Cruise was great. This was our 3rd time on this ship. Loud music under our rooms that lasted into the night.

Review summary

I can only reiterate the disappointment due to lack of sleep caused by the entertainment in the Schooner Bar. We called in every night and received very courteous receptionists but that could not get us our rest. One of our group even spoke with the pianist and he apologized and stopped playing a little before midnight that night. But the next night things continued. He was just doing his job. Should we return to the Radiance careful consideration will be made in room selection...or on any other ship for that matter. We love Alaska. All of our friends know that we go and look forward to sharing our stories upon return. Some of them have even been upon our recommendation.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Formal dining room food and staff were outstanding as usual. The buffet food was delicious as well.

Onboard Activities

This was the first Alaska cruise that I had been on that the pool and hot tub area were actually fully operational. Usually too cold...not this year.

Service and Staff

Randy was our waiter and Dan was his assistant. Very professional and attentive to our needs/requests.

Ship Quality

Design is lacking noise barrier in the rooms on the 7th floor directly above the Schooner Bar. Passengers should be made aware that the bars underneath rooms 7630, 7632, 7634 and 7636 do not close until midnight or later. If you go to the bars and stay late then you might prefer a room like we had...we did not!!!!!!!! There were 8 of us traveling together. First cruise for one of our couples. Very disappointing. This was our 5th Alaska cruise - 3rd time on Radiance...could possibly be our last.

Cabin / Stateroom

Room Stewart kept our room very nice and clean.

Ship tip

Check the location of your room. Be sure it is where you want to be...and no bars underneath unless you prefer that sort of thing. WE DID NOT!!!

Had a very nice birthday dinner at 49th State Brewing Co. Food was very delicious. WE had eaten there when we were there in 2017.

Excursions to Salmon Hatchery - very improved since our last visit, and Mendenhall White Water Rafting trip - Kendall handled the boat very efficiently. Felt very at ease with him at the helm.

Skagway, Alaska

Went down the World's Tallest Ziprider. Loved it more the second time than the first in 2017. Whale Watching was awesome. Saw lots of whale tales!!! Boat driver and his sister were very knowledgeable and pleasant.

Ketchikan, Alaska

Just went through the airport. Very disappointed that Burger King was only open to international passengers. There needs to be more than one if they are going to do that. As well as other low/mid priced, quick meals to be able to grab and run.
