Review summary

Would recommend this cruise to anyone! Beautiful scenery and lots of wildlife.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation was done in steps at various venues. Started at the Marriott hotel in downtown Anchorage and was completed at the train station located at the airport. Although they did this in groups, if you happen not to get in the front of the line, you have to stand outside. The day we did this was very nice, however if it’s rainy or cold you might not have a very pleasant experience. This is speaking only for those who take the train ride from Anchorage.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Dining room food at dinner was average. Lobster night was very good and one other night was outstanding but all the others weren’t memorable. Did have dinner at Samba Grille one night. Would choose Choose Chops Grille over that. Breakfast in Windjammer was the same every morning and was fine for early port arrivals and excursions. Didn’t eat lunch but one time in the Windjammer but it was good and there were many options.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Didn’t use the pool, spa rock climbing or fitness center.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The shows weren’t bad but definitely not the caliber of the ones I’ve seen on other RC ships. The singers and dancers were amazing and did great, but the shows themselves were not as glitzy as they used to be. The magician that performed was excellent. I missed the comedian so I can’t review him.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Staff was good. Our assistant waiter didn’t speak/understand English very well, so there were some communication problems that we got a laugh at, but that comes with cruising. Our room steward was very accommodating, quick, personable and polite.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Design was fine. Would like to see the Centrum area expanded if they continue to use it for activities that draw large crowds.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin space was quite adequate for two people! With an ocean view, we had a very small porthole view which was okay, since we weren’t in our room much.

Ship tip

Don’t miss the last night in the Centrum! Captain Marek sings and does a great job!
