Review summary

First time in Alaska, first time on a cruise.  Was slighlty disappointed on how touristy the ports were and the amount of jewelry stores at each port (the same exact stores).  Was hoping to see more wild life, but I guess you do need to book those excursions if you want to see bears, moose, etc.  The only animals we saw were eagles, porpoises and whales while cruising.  Alaska was my 50th state to visit and after stopping at the ports with the same shops, I was over it by day 5.  Highlight of the trip was the glacier.

I really appreciated the Purell and having to sanitize your hands before entering the buffet area. No one in our family got sick!

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

highlight of the entire trip- boat circles so all sides get an excellent view.

Juneau, Alaska

small town, free WiFi in the library located on top of the parking garage located across from the Marine Park and Red Dog Saloon. Musher Camp excursion offered by cruise line is the same one they offer in Skagway (on dirt). There are tons of booths for sight seeing tours if you don't purchase on the ship, they are located on the docks. If interested in Jewelry, Jewels by Kris were super friendly and not so pushy.

Skagway, Alaska

smaller port that Juneau. They also have a library with free WiFi. Short walk to the downtown area from dock, you can stop and see the salmon spawning on your way in and out. Skagway Brewing Co is a nice local bar for food and drinks. Shop North to Alaska for items sold by locals and made in Alaska. For those missing your Starbucks, they have one inside Miners Gems (or one of the jewelry stores on 2nd).

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

Not much to do/see here, but they did have free WiFi near the zip line viewing area/restaurant. Saw some whales from the ship.

You will see whales while you cruise, wish we had brought binoculars.
