As always on Cunard there is plenty to do day and night, but also places to sit and read in peace and quiet with a nice coffee if you wish. The Winter Gardens have several TVs, so can get very busy with sports being shown (the rugby World Cup on our cruise!). The ports of call were varied and interesting and the sea days are great for relaxing or line dancing! And don’t forget Zumba at 9.15am!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
My mother had assistance and the guys pushing the wheelchairs were fantastic.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The restaurant food was not as good as I’ve had on the Queen Mary, and the afternoon tea sometimes didn’t come up to Cunard standards
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The pools were always crowded, as expected, but so many people were going off for some time and leaving their stuff on the sun beds, meaning nobody else could sit out
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The shows were very good and the lectures outstanding
Children's Programs
No children
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our steward was fantastic, as were our waiters in the dining room. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship was extremely clean but the layout was odd. The Queens Room was in the centre of the ship, basically making it a corridor. This meant that it was not very warm for sitting and reading in during the day, and when closed off for specific functions, meant that you had to go up a deck, walk along and then come down again!
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The stateroom was very comfortable, with two recliner chairs on the balcony. It was always very clean and there was a plentiful supply of tea and coffee!
Ship tip
Get to the lectures early to make sure you get a good seat. Some of the seats in the Riyal Court theatre have posts slightly obscuring the view
Beautiful island. We did the Footsteps of the Durrells tour, which took us over a large part of the island and was well worth it if you’re a fan of the Durrells
Stunning! This was my favourite place. The gondola ride is a must! Then I wandered for hours around the little back streets. There is so much to see away from the main squares, but it was still very busy
This is a very grubby place and you have to negotiate many very busy roads to get anywhere. The benefit is it’s only a 5 minute walk from the port, but be aware of the nick nack sellers lining your route from the ship!
Always under the impression that there wasn’t much to see in Gibraltar, I was pleasantly surprised. We arrived in square in time to see the ceremony of the keys and a march up the high street by Nelson and his soldiers! Great duty free shops, (some with extra discounts for Cunard guests), and plenty of bars!
Poor organisation getting us off the ship. We had assistance but we’re over 30 minutes later leaving. We had been told our disembarkation time was 9.30am and booked our taxi accordingly. But apparently the ship kept adding people to the list for assistance, meaning everyone was delayed
