Review summary

Overall, I enjoyed visiting Alaska. Such a lovely place. I have always preferred Royal Caribbean for the hospitality but perhaps the pursuit of profit via specialty restaurants etc. has resulted in less quality. While some staff members were warm and friendly, others appeared arrogant and not supportive. One example was the dining room reservation person who told me that if I didn’t have a reservation I would have to wait on line for an earlier dining time. He did not help me to make future reservations or inform me how I could make them. The hot dogs were tasteless and overcooked. A lot of the meat that was served was dry and tasteless and the lamb chops served at the Mediterranean dinner was mostly gristle and bone. One of the best meals for me was breakfast in the Windjammer dining room. This helped to offset some of the other meals. I also loved the snack and sandwich areas and the desserts were always excellent. I also enjoyed the shows in Two70. What a lovely space!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Had My Time dining so we needed reservations to get into the main dining rooms. This was extremely inconvenient because often the earlier dining schedules were filled and we would have had to eat after 8 pm. Thank God for the Windjammer dining room. The staff was friendly and the food (most of the time) was good. Breakfast there was Excellent. The Mediterranean dinner we were invited to was terrible. The staff was inattentive and the food was uninteresting.

Onboard Activities

Great fitness center and spa!

Entertainment

The show in Two70 was wonderful! Also the singer from X Factor. The other shows were lackluster for me.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Windjammer staff was friendly, attentive and provided great service. When we did get into the dining room, the staff appeared disinterested and only interested in the guests who had been able to be there more often. The main waiter, Jonathan barely talked to us and did not bring out the cranberry sauce. His assistant did a better job of making us feel welcome.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Most of the ship was pretty clean. The area near the hot dog stand was filthy.

Cabin / Stateroom

VERY comfortable! Our steward Romeo was excellent!

Ship tip

Do not pick MY TIME dining.
